Yes man, Gurdjieff is killer. I found one of his albums on LP at some shit hole, it crackles a lot though.

I'm young on this whole ordeal of creating Dungeon Synth, but the big influence on the first song I've written, Bonfire (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPTANOcKRUw), is Turlough O'Carolan. He's an Irish Harper that I absolutely adore (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSluUqxBYUM). I cannot recommended him enough, his harp songs are absolutely spell binding.
I'm also greatly influenced by all manners of classical music. I'm a huge fan of Beethoven piano sonatas, Arvo, Wagner, Bach.

Love the feel! Also, Bach's Goldberg Variations - what a genius headache! Love that stuff! I gotta check out that harpist, though.

I'm happy you liked it!
I've been listening to your Canterbury Tales, not in its totality, though, because it is a very long album (I usually tend to avoid very lengthy records, because being unable to listen from top to bottom always irks me a bit). Your Reeve's Tale song actually reminded me a tiny bit of Turlough's style, not the whole song of course, but the harp melodies could fool me into thinking I was listening to some Turlough song, even if Turlough has a very Celtic sounding style.
Regardless, I'm quite liking it, and I will be trying to get my hand on a copy of the book because I don't really know the stories and I'm really curious now. I imagine that your Canterbury Tales record gains a new level of quality if I know the tales behind it.

I listen to a tonne of music and like to include as many infleunces as possible, no matter how much of it shows in the finished product. I play progressive metal outside dungeon synth so a lot of those ideas come into play, rhythm wise, time signatures etc. In terms of sound, Horslips (70's band from Ireland, Celtic Rock with a hint of prog), Martin Green (a great dark folk musician), Darkthrone and Agalloch to name a few.

I listen to a lot of IDM like Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher. I love the moods they can create. Especially BoC, they're able to capture emotion in their songs and make me feel something deep inside. I strive to do that with my music. To make listeners FEEL something. Also i'm a HUGE Enya and Enigma fan, they can transport the listener to different states of mind or universes. I also try to do that with my music. So yeah, Boards of Canada, Enya and Enigma are pretty big influences.

I owe a lot to Elend, Puissance, Summoning, Limbonic Art, early Empyrium, early Lacrimas Profundere, Endura, Jean Michel Jarre, Vivaldi, Bach, Chopin. None of them are DS but I felt deeply influenced by their works. I hope I'm not forgetting any.

Of course one draw inspiration to some degree from all music one listens to. Though when it comes to DS my main non DS influences would be old pc game music, like the music from Heroes III of might and magic, Age of Empires II or the Total War series. Other major influences are also of course folk/viking/traditional music like for example Harald Foss and classical from the romantic era like Grieg, Wagner and Sibelius.

Most notably, in terms of the dungeon synth that I create, I have been very influenced by Enya and Loreena McKennitt. Both are spectacular producers of world music, able to create such amazing moods and memorable melodies in their songs consistently! Very very dreamy stuff that I adore. Additionally, the music from Dwarf Fortress has had a huge impact on me, both the two songs from the game itself and the Soundsense tracks created by Simon Swerwer (which I 200% recommend checking out here). On that same track of soundtracks, the Oblivion soundtrack (and all of Jeremy Soule's work, to be honest) has always stuck with me as an example of perfectly crafted music for different atmospheres and environments. Some neofolk/medieval folk like In Gowan Ring and Werkraum have also influenced my greatly, even some nature-y black metal such as Wolves in the Throne Room and Avakr when it comes to creating very long-form tracks.

Ambient, dark ambient, and noise music all play a big part in my work as Tyrannus (which will be most likely carried on as the more noise-oriented Einhorn). The aesthetics of raw black metal impact my work as well. I'd say some of my biggest influences outside of the DS scene are Striborg, The Rita, Paysage D'hiver, Reverorum Ib Malacht, and Ain Soph. Also shout out to Atrax Morgue, Nails ov Christ, 16bit game OSTs (FFVI!!!), IAALOBO, Emit, and Vomir

Maybe a bit of a weird influence, but I love the epic, grandiose feel that this song gives of: youtu.be/vmwMhjbThKgAlso, "Vienna" by Ultravox is another influence. Just epic 80s Synthpop in general, I guess, haha.
