Carpenter Brut is playing nearby in two weeks for 18 euros, but I am still not sure if I want to go or not (because of finances). I like the retro feel and those themes from him. He will play with a few musicians and everything. I think I will give some extra computerlessons this week so I can still go haha.

Did you know they are a Dutch band? Makes me pretty happy that we have some local good dark wave bands here. Love that catchy bassriff.

I didn't know they were Dutch. Have you ever seen them live? I bet they put on a good show.

Camel AND Chet Atkins? I think we're going to get along just fine! Camel has always been in my top 5 prog bands, and I think Andrew Latimer is a severely underrated guitarist. Such a shame! As for my contribution to the thread, I'm going to go with a little jazz. Tommy Dorsey was an incredible trombone player, and in this piece his expression is incomparable. This one really has inspired a lot of my newest album. In all honesty, I think it's very important for musicians and composers of any genre to listen to jazz!

Any fans of Devil Doll? The Italian/Slovakian prog/goth/metal/orchestral/whatever band produced 5 incredible atmospheric albums with a huge range of sounds. The vocals are very polarizing for some as they're quite theatrical, but definitely very skilled.

And every time I listen to a Devil Doll album I end up listening to all the others within a few days, they're all incredible. The guy is such a character. Every time I consider his name, "Mr. Doctor," I mentally say it as he does at 16:45, "Misterrr...... DOCTOR!"

Hell yeah! Wendy Carlos is incredible, and I think it's easy to underestimate this album for the fact that it seems to be a gimmick, but is in fact just an incredible performance of Bach done in an innovative way.
Here's my contribution today: Carlo Gesualdo, Moro Masso. I have vague recollections of this guy having a pretty soap opera life, but he wrote some incredible vocal music both sacred and secular, and his use of glaring suspensions and modulations make his music very hazy, very disorienting, but still quite comforting and beautiful. It definitely stands out compared to most of his contemporaries, and compared to most music in the classical tradition until late 1900s.

I'm also a long-time fan of Wendy Carlos. I probably listen to Switched-On Bach more than any other classical album.
