I don't know any Dutch artists to be honest, I am pretty curious who is Dutch then.

The Crude Form/Shadow Kingdom/Shunned House labels, Old Tower being at the forefront (also Warden, Sacred Dominions, Staar). There are probably others I'm not thinking of right now who aren't affiliated with those labels.

Where in the US is DS concentrated? I'm a strong believer that landscapes shape people. Is there any correlations with any specific environments, the way black metal has been strongly associated with wet temperate forests etc? I think there is a spread all over the country but there seem to be pockets in the Midwest, parts of the south, and the northeast. The New York/New Jersey/Connecticut region seems to be spawning a lot of acts. The exact nature of the landscape can vary although for some reason I feel like suburbs really do it. Not sure if others agree. "The Suburbs" are a classic American dungeon. Do you think these different pockets have distinct sounds or moods? To me, Russian DS broadly has its own sounds/flavors/moods/tropes/look, but other than that I don't make much distinction...

There are popular artists from the cascades, some from sunny California and Arizona, some from down south, but I feel like I see a good amount from the mid-west area quite often, maybe the New England area. Europe-wise, I'd definitely say Germany and the Netherlands are big producers of new DS. Could I ask you to point me to some Arizona artists? I'd appreciate it more than text can show.

Most popular would be Thangorodrim from Prescott, AZ

Not aware of a ton of south or Central American artists. There's definitely a Canadian contingent. I know of Ancient Boreal Forest who is from Western Canada (can't remember exactly which province right now), and a good crew of Québécois artists, among them Cromleck and Caverne.

There are more South and Middle American artists than those two but I can't seem to remember. I don't know why there aren't bandcamp advanced search filters for this stuff (region, date, etc).

The inappropriately-named Northern Forest is another South American artist, from Brazil. His vast discography contains a lot of nature-themed DS stuff.

I got into Dungeon Synth from when I was growing up in Southern California and it does seem like that's one of the last places someone would become interested in it. It wasn't until I moved to Ohio and had been listening to it for a couple years that I actually started playing some of it on my own, so maybe a change in scenery to a more green/rural area did play a part in it. Ohio seems like a real DS hotspot

Ohio seems like a real DS hotspot Yeah, I believe Verminaard is also from Ohio, the community here seems to be very warm. He was also the first person to share my release so I have a lot to thank him for. Yeah the dude really believes in giving rising artists a shot!

Hedge Wizard is also from Ohio.
Though I wouldn't say they're exactly dungeon synth, my country (Croatia) has a weirdly high amount of Summoning-inspired projects all over the region. Apart from a couple of NS folk metal bands (eugh) and Osmi Putnik, those bands are probably my country's most well-known metal exports. Considering how the continental landscape looks like in the country, the fact definitely makes sense. Example: my profile pic.
