I liked the first one a lot so I'm giving it a listen! So far so good! What sort of equipment/software do you use?

I liked the first one a lot so I'm giving it a listen! So far so good! What sort of equipment/software do you use? I am glad you liked it. The tracks released so far only software. For Martyryxan famitracker and pulseboy for the composition and steinberg wavelab for mastering and samplemixing. And for The Way of a Pilgrim there has been almost no mastering other than a few volume fade in and out. I have done no EQ for this last one so the sound is pretty much raw famitracker exept two samples in the end of two of the tracks. These two albums was made simultaneously but martyryxan got finished first. I am far from done with the third release but that one will be more chiptune rather than, what is called, faketune or fakebit and for that the equipment is a Macintosh SE produced and built 1987 and the sofware is, I believe it is called, "music works". I do not know or I do not remember. I think the program was made in 1986 but the internet tells me it was made in 1984.

Strange music, sort of chiptuney, which is something I never really liked because to me, it just doesn't invoke any atmosphere really, maybe it's because I'm not really that old and didn't grow with old games much, or maybe it's because it just doesn't appeal to me. It does sound very video-gamey and straight out of famitracker.
If I can add an observation: One of the things I loathe in classical music is that so many composers did not give a unique name to many of their songs... You obviously do things the way you want, but don't underestimate the power that a song name can have. That's just a suggestion, you obviously do things your way. Best luck on your project.

Strange music, sort of chiptuney, which is something I never really liked..... Thank you for your input. I am glad that you did point that out. Retrosounding chippytune is for those who have cosy nintendo memories from their childhood. I did not think about that myself but yea that is elementary. And the tracks have names to long for beeing printed as a tracklist. Look futher down. Thanks

Oh I see, I must have not read it for some reason. Those are some very long track titles

Man, this is really cool. I'm not familiar with the whole 8-bit approach in dungeon synth, but it works really well. You got some beautiful melodies going on here too, especially on "The Way of a Pilgrim," and the whole religious journey aesthetic is pretty interesting as well.

I liked it indeed!! I didn;t preview it at all so I wasn't sure what to expect , but it is good ! Though, and don't take it for anything since the genre discussion has been done again (with noise that time), if someone would put me to put some tags, it would be chiptune instead of DS.. Still I like chiptune a LOT anyway and also , the album IS atmosphere wise completely related to DS.. And in the end music matters not genre so again, a good one, congrats!! Looking forward to more of this flavor, maybe even combine some stuff!!

Looking forward to more of this flavor, maybe even combine some stuff!! Yeah. At first I thought that NO this is not dungeon synth but then I thought that well maybe and I asked a friend what he thought and he said first NO but then after he had listened to the pre-release stuff he said yes YES this should be tagged both dungeon synth and chiptune. so I did. but then I would not try to exclusively promote it as dungeon synth since it is also chippytune. but it is not completely that either since I use famitracker and puleboy and runs it through my PC instead of through a real NES or gameboy. so it is faketune if you would ask a chiptune purist. I am glad that Digre was well received among the DS-community. I did not think it would. I am delighted that you liked it of course and yes it will be more of a similar flavor. Please tell me what you mean by combine some stuff?

I really enjoyed your synth choice. It's always good to get those sega genesis feels.

Nice, indeed I see your point about the purist side too, either way that's the great thing with tags, a combo of some describes even better than one when genres collide Good work on your album again!! I'm completely musically uneducated so dunno how to describe it, but what I meant about combining stuff is too try and mix with your current style (onto it) more traditional DS sounds(either more ambience OR either something drawing from Depressive Silence for example), since as fas as I know (and I'm sure I don't know that much) there isn't such an experiment yet !! Hope you bring up more again!! Cheers

I listened to your album before I read the posts here, and I was pleasantly surprised. The chiptune brings me back to old times (not ancient though), and the melodies are wonderful. It is vague, but in a good way.

crystallogic13 -> Aha. well no there will be no development in any other direction for Digre. there will be development in the same tracks as the first two but there will be no mixing like that. Maybe I will do some other project with another picture of sound but it will be nothing like that with Digre. I have been making some music back when it was not called Dungeon Synth that was something like Depressive Silence almost made with keyboard and echo/reverb but I made just one or two copies. I will continue to get inspired by other projects of course and that will for certain influence the tracks of Digre musically. the concept will be the same and there will be no deviation from that. Blessings.
Ananoriel -> The old forgotten times of the early 90's. I am glad that you liked it.
