Longtime listener, first-time caller, as they say. I'm happy to be here. I've been a listener of DS for a while now, but only recently thought to try my own hand at it. My project is called Snarling Clearing, DS from Chicago USA: snarlingclearing.bandcamp.comI'm not a skilled musician or anything, so go easy on me. With your help, I plan on growing as a DS artist and releasing some more sprawling stuff in the future. Also, let me know if you ever want to collaborate on anything.

I think you labeled Snarling Clearing correctly as winter synth. Have you evaluated naming your tracks with a more wintry topic?

I think you labeled Snarling Clearing correctly as winter synth. Have you evaluated naming your tracks with a more wintry topic? Good call actually. To be honest I just thought up some names that I thought sounded catchy/clever, but I think you're right that some more wintery-themed titles might enhance the effect of the music. It wasn't imagined as being an exclusively winter synth project, I guess it just sorta happened that way. But yeah, I plan on releasing some more dungeon-y stuff later on. Maybe something for the upcoming compilation?

Not a bad thing to be on the more winter synth end of the spectrum really, hardly anyone has been doing it, we could use more.

Not a bad thing to be on the more winter synth end of the spectrum really, hardly anyone has been doing it, we could use more. There hasn't been much lately at all, I've noticed that as well. Maybe because it's such a specific genre, people aren't really interested anymore in having to make their music solely revolve around winter. Dropping the winter imagery might just make it DS or dark ambient. How important is winter imagery exactly? Can you have winter synth accompanied solely by like imagery of, I don't know, lakes and still call it WS? Could be a separate winter synth thread on the DS board. Edit: I am absolutely advocating for Lake Synth.

Yeah there's nothing wrong with that either. I did one winter synth record, so did foglord so I think it's all good.

I've just released my first LP, which is called Strom. It includes some of the earlier stuff, and the songs are all loosely tied together under the overarching theme of war. I'm quite happy with it. snarlingclearing.bandcamp.com/album/strom-demo

I dropped my second album today, Dying King. It includes some reworked earlier stuff, but it's a more tightly woven concept album than the first (I would say), a more singular listening experience. Listen here: Dying King

Good work! You know what I think, it sounded to me as pure, clean winter synth, with gelid sounds and icy notes. I really liked it.
