I'm considering getting a goblin or gnome tattoo and I thought I'd throw it out there because I haven't decided what to get. I only want black ink and really I want stuff that's mostly line work to fit with my other stuff. I know some of you guys know more about fantasy art than I do so if you know of something throw it up here.

You should draw your own. Not sure how pompous that might be having your own art on you, but I think your art would make a kool tattoo.

You might be interested in this large, under-curated album of dungeon beasts: imgur.com/gallery/T6Mtr191 images, at least a few of which are goblins. Both old-Europe & neo-fantasy art for inspiration.

These are pretty close, not quite there but I want this style with all black and no shading. But I wouldn't get a large area of solid black again because I did and it faded and needs a redo and that's annoying.

Or maybe I should just draw one and do this after because this is becoming an odyssey. You gotta be sure with this kind of stuff though.

I'm hoping to get this done next: This sword comes from Rumo and his Miraculous adventures by Walter Moers, whose books were some of my most formative fantasy experiences. He may have some stuff that would appeal to other people in this group I bet

My 2c regarding the topic which was touched upon, eg design it yourself vs. pick a ready image:
IMO, unless you are 100% you know what you want and can draw it, just find a bunch of good reference pictures and talk it over with your tattoo artist. A good tattoo artist will be able nail your vision - or admit they're not the right person to do your tattoo! I have several tattoos, of which only one is pretty much 100% my design, and another one is like 75% my design with some crucial parts redrawn by the tattoo artist. The rest, I have either provided reference images and ideas, or drawn some kind of rough sketch and let her do the actual design, and I am 110% sure they couldn't have turned out better had I insisted on drawing them myself - or become more personal.
My personal favorite is my WIP chest piece, which I envisioned as a small upper chest image, but which has since then transformed into a full chest piece and will continue to cover my entire stomach area. "I fucking love the design - but if we're gonna do this, we're gonna do this BIG!", my tattoo artist exclaimed when I described her the retro 80's synthwave style image I wanted.

It's an old topic but hey! Ranseur - check @bummersfrombreakfast on instagram (https://www.instagram.com/bummersforbreakfast/) You can find there lots of cool goblin stuff. Janusz is my bandmate and he's really goblin obssesed.
Also quite recently he started tattooing, so give him a follow (most of his flashes and drawings are published on insta stories). I'm pretty sure that if you'll ask him he would share some stuff that were not published on ig.
