Gave up along time ago with lists that compile best of's a certain year that they were released, as the year i discover it is what's important to me and also music and esp. DS should have a timeless quality about it .

I find them very useful and I appreciate the effort to make one, it's hard to choose !! I still postpone my list for the end of the year in the hopes that I will sit around for quite some time to put a list together, enjoyable time though..

Err seems a bit silly but you do realise i was just talking about myself right? I'm not telling other people what to do or belittling people for making lists, not sure what your issue is here?

Err no I did *not* realize you were talking about yourself , it wasn't obvious, to me at least. I also do not have any issue by the way, it's a forum where people discuss so I commented on your post in the context of the discussion . Anyway..

This Zundmara project is really fascinating. A nice blend of new age and nature ambient sounds (the sample of what I think is a Fishercat in the beginning is quite chilling), but with a Pure DS aesthetic. I like the new Vampire Tower, but the range of sounds is a lot to take in in a single listen. The early music influence is very nice though - I just had to break it up into a few segments, compared to previous VT albums where you could listen to the whole thing on loop due to the focused mood.

I usually don't pay great attention to aesthetics...I mean, of course I love beautiful artworks etc, but the music comes first. We should open a new thread about this....

That’d be an interesting thread. I could write at great length about the importance of aesthetics!

I feel like we touched on this somewhere on this board, but I can't quite remember where. It was part of the perpetual discussion on the definition of DS and how much aesthetics play into the equation alongside the actual sound and composition attributes. It's kind of a tricky situation, a lot of people consider things to be DS that are more in other music realms since they have a DS aesthetic or are generally in the 'scene', like a lot of the chiptune/VGM stuff.

It is a halfway between DS and Soundscape/ambient which is great in my opinion, I also like the fact he uses his own name instead of an invented one.
