OK I open this thread to post stuff including outreach of DS to the outer realms.. I thought we missed a similar thread, after I noticed a compilation entitled "Dungeon Synth" by Battle of the Bits battleofthebits.bandcamp.com/album/dungeon-synth .. It is a compo made compilation done by battleofthebits.org/ which makes thematic compos from what I can get... It is actually very interesting to see reactions to DS from other communities, so check here : battleofthebits.org/arena/Battle/4328/Comments/ .. I've yet to listen to the compilation, but I will asap, very encouraging is that Garvalf (http://dungeonsynth.proboards.com/user/155 garvalf.bandcamp.com/ ) is participating , I like ALL of his stuff , top notch!! So post anything similar , people reacting to DS from outside worlds..

I took my dad with me to Dungeon Siege Northwest, and it was interesting to hear his thoughts. He eventually came to the conclusion that the genre was "Pretty much whatever you feel like" which is, not inaccurate. Interestingly, he (unprompted) described one project as the one he (with no previous exposure to the genre) suspected was the closest to the "old school" style, and that was the one with the most obvious black metal influence.

I don't know if anyone has seen this yet (I don't remember how I came across this initially), but this is a hardcore punk tape that employs some very obvious tabletop gaming aesthetics, but I feel the members are quite aware of dungeon synth given the EP's presentation. It's actually a pretty good little demo if you're into that old Ian Mackaye style of vocals, kind of reminds me of the first Ink & Dagger 7", too.

I didn't know who Ian Mackaye is I'm afraid, not that knowledgeable in punk but I enjoy stuff there, came up with "frontman of the influential hardcore punk band Minor Threat and the post-hardcore band Fugazi." , again unknown.. All this -after- listening to the album one fast ride, spotting the vocals kinda annoy me and rereading your post saw the mention and googled and .. you get the point, circle ends.. There was enough lofi in the music itself though that you surely can tell there's some DS influence there

I like the "Wizards are cops!" quote on their Bandcamp page - Dungeoncore is a sub-genre idea with a lot of promise...

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice garvalf , many many endless thanx for the heads up, chiptune leaning DS is my favorite, I see lots of songs so gonna have a great day!! As a sidenote, there isn't a BC page this time to get them all at once (or a grab all in the linked page, I only see individual download buttons..).. Again, many thanx Garvalf and hopefully more people from other background are introduced to DS both as listeners and creators!! Edit: You can't even download the mp3s, trying to gets an "Login or Register, n00b! " (lol...) message... It's not on BC page too - checked that ... Thanx though for the heads up again Garvalf!

Especially Minor Threat. Salad Days by Minor Threat was the first song I ever learned on bass. Such a rare find, thanks for sharing. I just checked the band & didn't think they were bad at all. I love the aesthetic too.
But I didn't really think he sounded like Ian Mackaye. It sounds like like an earlier wave of hardcore punk, Ian sang more but this guy has the old classic local punk shouting.

I don't know if it's the right thread, but I'd like to introduce one of my releases, that you may have seen on a few Facebook DS-related groups. archive.org/details/congres-du-monde-un-dimanche-dexecutionsThat's not exactly DS regarding the layout, or regarding the fact that's it's not about heroic fantasy stuff, but musically it's totally influenced by old video games music, primitive General MIDI sounds, and so on. I wanted to pay tribute that influence of mine and revive a few childhood memories. I have been listening to DS, amongst many other things, these last 25 years, so if I had to qualify this tape, I would call it para-DS, or pre-DS, even post-DM, nevermind. I only hope you will have a good time listening to it.

Generally the BC page is set up after all votings are done. But I don't know if there will be a compilation or not this time. In this case it should appear there: battleofthebits.bandcamp.com/For downloading stuff, you are required to register (it's free though). It's still possible to listen all tracks online, from this link (you don't even need to be registered in this case):https://battleofthebits.org/player/Radio/battle/5706/

I really enjoy this release, it's a very recommended proto-~post-ds~ album, with an incredible mood! I'm sure some goblins were executed as well!
