Hi guys,
this is probably a common story here, but I normally make metal music (published an album and an EP for my black metal project Caprae Idolum last year) but I have an interest in making Dungeon Synth as well - mainly because the workflow is so different, to have a smaller scale creative outlet while I work on my next bigger project and because the community seems cozy and friendly. I made a track the other day; using DEXED, soundfonts of N64 games in sForzando and BBC Symphony orchestra samples, along with spoken word from Ralph Bakshi´s Lord of the Rings movie: soundcloud.com/scuttlegoat/beseeching-the-palantir-001/s-sQ3x3v5zumQ?si=6a61d67f087f495393ec8c0353dbce00&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharingI would appreciate some feedback and some pointers in how to get more involved in the community, as well. I see I can create its own chamber for the project in the forum? I don´t have a name as of yet, but I am leaning to something along the lines of Allatar & Pallando. Anyway, looking forward to talk to y´all about this fun niche sound.

Hey Scutt, first off I thought that was a great track. Particularly the backing track that you built your melody on, good foundation to keep layering. You definitely have a good sense of building dynamics. I think Scuttlegoat is a great project name already, more identifiable than the other name. As far as the community, there are tons of places to start. You can definitely post your project over in the Chambers, then I’ve found that Instagram has some talented friendly artists. There are some Facebook groups as well but I don’t have a lot of experience there to be honest. Good luck getting some more songs out there, I’ll be listening.

I´ll definetely be digging for some instagram and facebook pages to see what I can find! As for the name, I am not quite enamored with Pallatar & Allando yet, but Scuttlegoat is my usual online nickname and I don´t want to attach it to any specific project. I have also considered "Goatleaf" to keep with the Goat theme of my other projects. I am glad that you like it! I was a bit worried about the sound, but Dungeon Synth luckily isn´t super cleanly defined. I will be pursuing this sound further.

Hey scuttlegoat and welcome!! Indeed as mahrgdidj already mentioned, besides this great very forum (imho the best albeit more quiet..) the are also 2 main Facebook communities with lots of activity, Dungeon Synth and Dungeon Synth Cult, you should have no problem joining them ! There is also reddit Dungeon Synth with people from here trying to keep it moderated and active there too.... So lots of choices, welcome and happy to have news regarding your work!!
