Hello! I just released my debut full length album, For the Forgotten Spirit, after working on it on and off for half a year. During last autumn and this winter, I've been making wide variety of snippets and arrangements more or less inspired by all the great Dungeon Synth releases I have been listening lately. For this release I chose more playful, melodious and less synth-y sketches, carefully crafting them into actual songs. Besides DS being essential element, they draw influences from European folk music, medieval tunes, cRPG soundtracks, and folk metal. In many ways, it's a tribute to my original "roots": The books I read, the games I played, the bands I listened to when I was a kid, all things fantastical and wondrous. The state of mind, landscape of the soul that was the default when I was young, that has since faded in the background or disappeared all together under other influences and ideas. The past few years have been about reconnecting with that childhood magical state of mind, and this album is about that whole journey. A Journey, where Dungeon Synth have been integral part of. So it is also a thank you for all the awesome people making this genre & scene unique and welcoming <3 Here are some Bandcamp codes for you, I hope you enjoy the songs as much as I enjoyed making them! runesong.bandcamp.com/yumpmsc-3kzd rrq4-ckkh kkp7-e4dw uy9x-3ass xtys-hncd 4zkp-5e4c 43yg-bbew cxky-wxns c4yz-h55l csuk-jr2e

Claimed code pmsc-3kzd, thanks! This is top-notch stuff. Your choice of sounds and the details and layering in your songwriting is very impressive.

Hello myrrys and welcome!! Congrats for your release, there's always great feedback, very much looking forward to listening to it, claimed code rrq4-ckkh !! Thanx a lot!! Indeed a lot of people I think is finding in DS that long lost childhood carefree feeling , when dragons, knights, castles and ghosts were all real and magical!! We all try to go back again and again to that age, only of course succeeding temporarily in a haze.. Welcome again, regards!!

Thank you both for the comments!
Really appreciate your feedback! I consciously set out with focus on good sound selection and arrangement, which I haven't really done before, at least on this level. It is validating to hear it paid off.
Completely agree on that. There's no really any other genre that so easily takes me back into that fantastical landscape. And I feel that the childlike atmosphere is something that makes it so easy and fun to write these kind of songs. Truly inspirational genre!

This is wonderful. I love Fief and you bring the same kind of adventurous vibe with this. I do think that some of the sounds used don't fit each other all the time, but the compositions are wonderful. Just bought myself a real lute, but I almost find the retro game-lute sounds to be superior to a real one I can relate to the longing/nostalgic feeling of childhood days. Zelda OOC still influence my art!

Zelda OOC still influence my art! Thank you for the kind words and feedback! And I agree with the virtual/emulated sounds of retro games sometimes being superior to the real ones. Must be something to do with the nostalgia aspect. The harp sounds that I used on all the tracks is combination of sampled harp notes and synthesized plucks, I really like the mixed sound they make. Also makes the notes pop out of the mix more easily than just acoustic harp notes. If you ever make songs with the real lute, though, I definitely want to hear it!

This is a fantastic debut release. I love the deep, yet whimsical atmosphere and also the distinctive and, at times, complex medieval styled melodies. I really enjoyed the track "Once this was a Familiar Place". That is some sublime melodic ambient songwriting right there:) This album is an excellent example of why it's smart to take your time when working on a release. I, unfortunately, tend to do the exact opposite:)

Very good debut! Fantastic presentation as well. Mixing is great. I will come back to it for sure. Really fun and light listen. The last three songs are my favourite, but the whole album is great. It has a nice calming effect, which is something I often look for in music. The ending of "Align Thyself..." is really interesting, it's as if the music ended at half the track and then you enter a dream, with all these atmospheres. You can hear the effort that was put into this album, but in a good way, it doesn't sound too complicated or overproduced, still manages to be light Congratulations on the release, I'm looking forward to listening more from Runesong

Thank you so much Veil of Dreams and cryptzzz ! I can see virtue in both taking your time with a release, and in making them fast and numerous. With the latter you learn so much more about finishing albums and projects, which will make subsequent releases easier. I'm glad to hear that, it's hard balance to find when using more "hifi" sounds & tools, and focusing on small details with more than few elements doing their own thing. Don't know when I'm ready to work on the next Runesong album, currrently playing around with some other ideas for few different, smaller projects. I'd guess when the winter comes I'll be more in mood for these specific themes and atmospheres. FYI, for the duration of this Bandcamp Friday, I lowered the price of the album by 25%. All proceeds will go towards buying other DS albums :D Edit: trying out all these BC tools, I also created this code for additional 25% discount, valid until tomorrow evening: runesong_bc_friday

Heya, I released this small EP some days ago. It consists of songs I originally composed when I was making the Runesong album. It is very much on the opposite end of the "spectrum", both in sound and in process: minimal, simple, most of the sounds are very basic waveforms, or samples from mellotron. Everything is recorded with hardware gear into four-track cassette recorder, with a 30 year old rack reverb on aux, and mixed live while recording stereo out into laptop, where I applied only rudimentary mastering. Here's some codes, I hope you enjoy this little foray into more cosmic landscape! zvar-6f8q ng9a-yq7z mt2b-7zp6 gzm5-5z7y y389-7gmf tvzn-57ka 29tv-75z7 atn6-vuyv vuga-k8jq 75kb-6n9t vry5-ym67

Hey myrrys , used code zvar-6f8q , many many thanx :) Very much looking forward, already seeing good praise and also nice artwork there!! Regards !! Hope you enjoyed the songs :) Some news: For the Forgotten Spirit is getting a tape release from the amazing Fableglade Records! I am incredibly excited to join their roster filled with great releases. The tape is going to be part of the next FGR Autumn Harvest batch, alongside with the newest Portcullis release (which has been one of my favourite albums this year, so extra glad to get released alongside such a perfect gem). Huge thanks to everyone who has listened thus far, and for all the lovely comments. It means a great deal to me.

Hello. Just released second Waywarden EP, continuing with the themes of far future (So very far away, maybe it's only yesterday), time and memories. This time around I was co-piloted by Landsraad for one song, that was fun experience and the results great. Some time later this year, Vicious Mockery will put out a compilation tape featuring both EPs. Waywarden - Here Today, Gone Sorrow
Here are some bandcamp codes, I hope you enjoy this short trip into backside of spacetime! 7eb8-cerw l7x2-wbw4 4mc5-hwla 4rjb-vw5b exbl-ys2w bcvh-7ls4 wsbj-5mca sjdr-bgsb pb4a-w7hw rdsb-h5ms 794b-3w5l On another note, there are some Runesong tapes left on Fableglade records, and I'll be putting out few artist copies on my bandcamp page as well.
