Hello, I've been fond of the genre for a while. Tried my hands at making some fantasy/medieval/baroque dungeon synth. A little bit of everything in here, something dark something light. soundcloud.com/user-976965577I'd love to hear your opinions, if you care to listen. Thank you.

Cool stuff, good dynamics all around. Also appreciate your attention to which parts are playing lead and which parts sit in the background.

I worked in a state of mind where I would visualize each "musician" in a space. Where they stand, how the scene unfolds etc. I'm glad it comes through. I actually wrote a backstory/scene for each track, which to me is a new approach to composing.

Very cool stuff, I get a very nice atmosphere from listening to this, as Mahrgdidj said above the variety of instruments and how they are used is great

These are really good songs! I especially enjoyed Peaceful Tavern. Cool stuff, good dynamics all around. I can imagine that the way the instruments interact with each other, giving space to one another is result from that mindset. I have been playing around with the idea of having imagined individual musicians as well, I'd love to hear more about how you approached it, and how it translates to the actual music in your daw/whatever you use to make the songs :) And the Tove Jansson illustrations are perfect fit for the atmosphere!

Many thanks! The Tove Jansson illustrations were a new discovery to me. I love them and her universe. I grew up watching Moomin Valley. When it comes to the "musicians": to me the concept comes first. For instance in Peaceful Tavern I wanted to do something akin to Fief, and imagined a fantasy medieval tavern.. having some knowledge about baroque/renaissance music I picked the instruments that could fit in said tavern. Then I imagine where they would stand in the tavern, what kind of mood etc. Then I choose what role each instrument will have. Harpsichord and theorbo is bass, lute and flute lead, and try to write idiomatically for each instrument. Spreading the chords across all the instruments is something I had to learn. Giving space and air to the piece. Then I choose a reverb that suits the whole scene.
