Hi Everyone, I'm very happy to have found this ds loving community! I released my first album last year, and as I find myself working on material for number two, was wondering if I can get any suggestions for better synths and instrument samples? For that album I used what comes default in FL Studio for synths, and some of the Garritan Personal Orchestra samples for instrument samples. I have recently started playing around with the K1v, and am finding some interesting sounds with it, but want to try out some others as well. I'll add the link to the album here, if anyone would like to listen and offer impressions/feedback-these are always appreciated! autumnwatch.bandcamp.com/album/whispers-from-forests-dark

My go to 75% of the time is purity, its a 90s style rompler vst i like it bc it has that cheap soundfont/casio feel, but you can get much more control over the shape and tone of the sound Heres a track i did with it www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZthkzDc65K4it is $50 though For something free, id say use these soundfonts musescore.org/en/node/109371 with fruity soundfont player. especially setting the sf quality to crunchy

The good news is you can do almost anything for free. There are lots of subgenres of dungeon synth so it depends what you want to do. I recommend www.kvraudio.com/ they have a searchable database of plugins where you can filter free. Or just google "best free synth vst" and you'll find the usual suspects. Get Spitfire Labs - they are free and have some great packs for DS. Get Valhalla Supermassive - free and incredible reverb plugin.

Awesome, thanks for the suggestions! I've been downloading these today and will experiment with them. I'm particularly excited about the Spitfire Labs, as I've been window shopping some of their other stuff. I've been listening to Fief and Wallachian Cobwebs (and Old Sorcery) lately, and have been wanting to play around with some of those sounds/textures.
