So, I'm fairly new to dungeon synth, but I have to admit I've become somewhat obsessed lately.
As someone who found their way into this genre by way of black metal, dark ambient, and doom, I tend to gravitate more towards the cold, somber, lo-fi stuff. But, I'm finding a lot to love with each new band I dig into.
Recently, I decided to start writing my own dungeon synth music to see what I could come up with and Hircine is a result of that. If anyone has the time or cares to check out the two songs that I've posted so far, I'd love to hear your thoughts on them. Furthermore, if anyone wants to throw me some links to their own music, or something else you think I'd enjoy, I'd be into that as well!
Cheers.

Hey hircine , welcome to the forum!! Just listened to your two tracks/releases: Indeed nice lo-fi atmospheres here A Few Faint Embers is maybe too short(I feel it could build to someting or expand more maybe) but is really spot on what you're going for, certainly in the same mood of other modern lo-fi projects, well done! As for Procession , I felt it was more ambient or maybe ethereal, but that's just personal taste!! Good work mate, keep us updated, I think the lo-fi you got in AFFE is going on the right track and looking forward to a full release or demo!! Nice always to see more people getting obsessed with DS, let\'s gather up around the campfire

Thanks so much for taking the time to listen and weigh in! I'm starting to put more thought into where I actually want this project to go and I have an EP in the works that I'm already really excited about. Admittedly, I didn't have any direction in mind when I decided I was going to do this. Rather, I was being spurred on by a curiosity for the genre more than anything. I'll be sure to post again when the new tracks are ready. Thanks, again!

Both of these tracks are great, really promising. I will say, I thought whatever lofi effect on your most recent track was unnecessary, the melody is strong enough to stand on its own.

I appreciate that - thanks for taking a look! Also, I guess I just tend to prefer listening to lo-fi stuff and so that's the sound I was trying to achieve. But, that's a totally fair criticism!

So, I've just uploaded a new a song called "Boreal Spirit". I feel like this track is much more fleshed out from a compositional standpoint than the previously uploaded tracks. I also spent more time on the mix, rather than leaning into the lo-fi sound. Cheers, folks! songsofhircine.bandcamp.com/track/boreal-spirit

This track is a gem, thoughtfully put together but still sounds effortless. The percussion that comes in with that second movement is such a nice touch, and I love all the supportive harmonies throughout. The melody is memorable on its own too, nicely weaved.
