Just put out my first full length dungeon synth project! There's an element of american folk music and bluesey-ness here that i don't see a lot in dungeon synth, and i also think kind of connects back to early heavy metal in an interesting way.
I drew inspiration from a variety of sources, such as the Zork series, mass internet paranoia, lost cultures, American folk music, archivism, old-school dungeon synth, and my own life experiences & Isolation.
I will check the release asap, you got me on the description on Zork, archivism and old-school DS But I'll be honest that personally I think (without having yet listened to the music) the effort could do (much) better and more inviting with a more DS one aesthetic wise .. What I mean in the kindest of ways, is that I agree totally with your logic and post here :
If the music of the release would say be DSBM then your cover would be a spot on , depends on the genre, but for someone expecting to listen to DS + then just imho the cover art is an insta-skip.. Maybe that would be even the effect you'd want, to filter some listeners even , I don't know mate, but I thought I throw my only 2 cents, again, in the best of ways!!
I wrote and deleted this post many times and considered even sending it in private, so if you want me to delete this post feel free mate and I'll do asap.. Again, in the best of ways!!
I personally like the cover, I do agree that it’s unconventional but it drew me in the same way Thangorodrim’s Taur Nu Fuin did. Unclear, dark figure with an air of mystery/danger. Great album too, cool sounds throughout and plenty of surprising moments.
