So just like two compilations popping up at once, so was the response for professional artwork. The mighty Bard (artwork for Wardens of the Light Starved Realm) and the great Canrith knox both expressed interest. Bard's would come at a cost money while Canrith's would not. I do not want to pit two artists against each other as they are both great rather seeing what people want do. The cost for Bard's artwork would be about 10$ per participant (minimum 10) and would be sent to his Paypal. For sake of making sure things stay on track I will say that if people are interested I am proposing a poll. If there are ten people interested in paying, we will go with that for the first cover and if not we will go with Canrith's or another option. Again this is just a kink we have to work out as I love the enthusiasm and energy of this project but I am just cautious when it comes to actual money and making sure people get compensated for their work and make them feel valued.

I'm personally in favor of going a cost effective route. Either the classic piece or preferably something original and free. Having ten separate people make a payment feels tricky so it just makes me uneasy...

Paying money to participate in this sort of thing seems kind of lame to me.

Paying money to participate in this sort of thing seems kind of lame to me. It's not a price to participate since we only need $10 from ten people, not everyone. But i agree, I don't really like the prospect of paying for that artwork. $100 Makes sense I guess but it feels steep nonetheless...I wonder if that's what verminaard had to pay

Oh I wasn't actually super curious haha I just wondered if it was around the same amount. $100 is a drop in the bucket but it's more of a matter of principal I think

Paying money to participate in this sort of thing seems kind of lame to me. I think it is on the other hand a good thing since you are ensuring quality. It is a controversial subject.

If you turn it into a product that takes the fun out of it.

some of you might know I have never taken payment for any of my artwork,, be it drawings, logos and layouts, it has all been done in support. I ask for credit and copies in trade and then I offer them for distro at Hollow Myths. Kaptain messaged me yesterday to ask if I would like to draw a cover for this project but then told me of the forum's interest in Bards great work... I must admit I was a bit confused.,.,. so do keep me posted.* I say support Bard Algol Eriboas!

Well what do you guys think? Does this mean we go for bard? How will this work?

If you turn it into a product that takes the fun out of it. Yeah I can really feel this perspective...maybe those few who are very in favor of Bard can split the cost between themselves? I mean unless it's a decision we can see that 10 people are behind we can't really do the 10 people doing $10 thing

As for the artwork complication, I think that can easily be worked out down the road. I enjoy the enthusiasm for local scene artists and we can certainly have a second round of discussions after it looks like the comp is getting finished. As for now I think getting music first and then worrying about art is going to be key unless we want just a DS artbook.

Haha yeah fair enough. I think a simple compromise is, if we plan on doing more than one of these, just use one artist's art now and another's later. For instance we could ask Canrith for this one since we have no gold in our dungeon funds but if we can maybe make some money off of this we can put that towards Bard art in the future. That way everyone gets their shot! But yes the music is the priority, naturally
