Between the years 1990-2020 we had this Finnish radio show called Avaruusromua ('space debris' in Eng.), in which the host explored the vast fields of electronic music with inexhaustible passion, heartfelt interest and startling knowledge. Music was presented from more well-known names to completely obscure entities, there were also artist interviews, and demo releases from emerging new-comers were aired as well. The narrative was always sincerely devoted and digging deep into the very essence of cosmic sounds, experimental vibes and out-of-the-ordinary atmospheres. Every episode was a journey both far and within; what we are, and what is out there, accompanied by ambiences that gently escort the mind on trips out and beyond. It was a late evening show, perfect for those of us who are curious by nature, us who gravitate towards raising our eyes to the skies while the rest of the world sleeps, us who constantly crave for knowledge, us who seek for clarity in chaos to build our hope for the future, us who dream of some day reaching other planets, star systems and galaxies. Us to whom nothing is ever complete, for we exist in a constant change with endless possibilities. Us who are cosmic wanderers and wonderers in this immense, strange and fascinating universe. PS. I was very happy to have one of my game music tracks approved to appear on the second to last episode of the show back in 2020.

Sounds like that show meant a lot to you, and it definitely sounds cool the way you describe it. I wonder if those broadcasts are archived anywhere? I think maybe I found one episode on youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozw7ElEUYdI I'm going to give that a listen.

Not sure how much (if any) synth but plenty of DUNGEON to make up for that.
Probably should go in proto DS thread?

Just listened to that Univers Zero - La Faulx. I like 9:00-12:00. I have no idea what musical context this comes from, like maybe progressive rock, avant-garde, horror movie soundtrack music, modern classical, or all or none of the above? It seems "ahead of its time," but maybe a lot of artists were doing this sort of dark experimental stuff back in 1979? Either way, very interesting.

I love Univers Zero. They're probably one of the biggest non-DS influences on my own work.

I think maybe I found one episode on youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozw7ElEUYdI I'm going to give that a listen. For me personally, it was indeed the best Finnish radio show ever. I will forever miss it. There used to be at least some of the show archived at Yle, a Finnish broadcast & news company, but currently there seems to be just some few around and no option for English translations. I think YouTube is the best bet to find any of the old episodes. Last night I went to see Sierra play live in Helsinki, holy crap it was a massive experience! The sound was brutal, the visuals were spot on dark and futuristic, and the atmosphere was raw and dystopic across the board (apart from a couple of ballads which took rather serene and dramatic routes). Simply incredible artist! Whoah!
