Checked out several tracks from both of Mari Lwyd's albums in the last few days (which, upon doing a search on here, I found them mentioned in a few old threads). Good medieval/folk synth, although I'm more into the moody stuff (one of their tracks was a bit more moody though). And also listening to Diego S. 's Dark Cave album too

NP illusorygates.bandcamp.com/album/a-mystical-memoryThis one is NYP and has got a lot of good comments but I was kinda torn by this artists two previous works which had (in my subjective taste) ups and downs, but this now this is it, this album indeed nailed it, good solid stuff throughout, very good stuff which always lead to something pleasantly familiar, definitely a great listen and imho his best work so a great great place to start with this artist from Brazil!

Thanks for reminding me to come back to this one crystallogic13, I remember putting it on when it first came out and not really being in the mood for this traditional style at the time. It’s really pulling me in this morning though, reminds me of Umbría in places. Evident that the artist took their time and considered the whole listening experience, the flow of the tracks feels very natural.

ATM there are two releases I listen to on daily basis:
Erdstall - Caverns of Endless
Blood Tower - A night of fine wine and hideous voices
I am not sure if I should call them 'good' in terms of production value or composition but both of them breath a kind of naive magic that brings me back again and again.

Been awhile, but as always, all pathways lead home one way or another. Hope all of you are doing well down here in the dungeons! Between my daily listens of Hole Dweller's debut tape " flies the coop" (up there in my top 5 DS tapes, ask me about it later and there'll be paragraphs!), I try to find some small 30 minute blocks during the week I can squeeze in a new sound or two and find new stories; new pathways. I stumbled across this brilliant collaboration, a merge between the fine realms of Gary Gygax, and the sunlit paths of Tolkien: Eldritch Wizardry & Redhorn Gate - Magic of the Mountain Keep Brief, fleeting, but it harkens back to those adventures beyond the mountain. Of wizards and dwarves. Of a slim few, ignited by purpose. Perhaps it invokes similar feelings, adventures, and memories in all of you. The beauty of Dungeon Synth is that despite the same sounds, it usually takes the listener on a completely different adventure than the listener before you.

^Makes sense, as both artists get high marks.

I'm not sure if this beautiful little record should be mentioned here... Technically it is no DS because no synths were used. Instead all melodies are played with bells and got accompanied by fieldrecordings of water, wind or singing birds. It's incredible how much atmosphere Nibelung can create with such a simple record.
I highly recommend to everyone to check out this EP!

Keep hearing this one come up, finally stopped putting it off. Was not expecting the ambience to be so high in the mix, it’s definitely more an accompaniment than background. I see now what all the hubbub’s about. A must listen.

mahrgdidj Today another album came to my mind.
This one was released over Moonworshipper Records and has a kinda similar approach of using fieldrecordings. You may want to check this out too.

^Ah, recognized the Moonworshipper logo there, they've got the Wandering Anduin album, one that I've got on my Wishlist. Seems to be a good label

Daaaaamn that was precisely what I was craving. What an ethereal journey, I’ve gotta dig into the Moonworshipper catalog.
