Crusader Kings II
It's free on Steam. It runs on Linux. It's addictive. 74 hours and counting...

olofdigre It's nice to see someone recommenting an open source game! People invest so much of their sparetime to make them and I think a lot of them deserve more attention. Yesterday, I've started playing Widelands again. It's another great open source game in the vein of Bluebytes 'Settlers 2'. As someone who spent many hours with Settlers 2 in his younger years (and was very disappointed by settlers 3), I'm very grateful for this game.

I recently (FINALLY) finished Portal 2 which was utterly fantastic. Last week Steam had the game Strafe for sale which I picked up. My earliest experiences with PC gaming was the likes of Quake so this really appeals to me. Has anyone else played it?

Ah yes. Settlers. I played 1 and 2 at a friends place back in the days. Great they brought it back.

I've been spending some time with this game called Outward lately. It's a game that's trying to invoke older RPGs like Gothic with added survival elements. I'm really enjoying it aside from the occasional Jank here and there. Also on the Midnight Ambience Live channel we've been playing Reign of Kings as a group. Also started a series where I stream older and newer PC strategy games while dungeon synth plays in the background. Looking to make this into a regular series with the potential of previewing new albums or doing listening parties in a way. In general I'm getting back into fantasy games on my PC which makes me really really happy.

I started Outward, quite liked it, but dropped it. Maybe I'll revisit it this summer. I like to have a bigger game to dig in during summer vacation. It has that clumsy old-school feeling I love about Gothics.
I've been playing Minecraft. I got my boss to approve the company paying the fees for a server, so I set up one for me and my colleagues. It's a lot of fun spending time together there, building weird stuff.

I have recently been playing a lot of Stardew Valley, I didn't know if it would be my sort of thing but I adore the game. It is lovely

I don't want to speak too soon - but I think I'm finally going to make it all the way through my white whale - The Witcher 3. A few years ago Steam failed to sync my cloud saves for it and I lost about 30 hours of playing it and had to abandon it. But I started again recently and I've now caught up and overtaken my original save - really want to get it done before Cyberpunk 2077 comes out.

Yeah I know. Like a drug, I slipped into Diablo 3 and its arcade 4 player game.. It's addictive. VERY addictive.. Years of addiction.. BUT I slooooowly take my time on RDR 2 though, such a fine work of art. Not a game, a work of art really, as are all GTA 3 and after I also have installed many other games (btw hopefully EVERYONE has Epic installed and got like more than 80++ AAA games for a year now) but not enough time atm.. Ugh!

Been testing some racing games(which is another fav genre of mine through time).. DiRT Rally (PC) feels so good but it's so hard.. Like ,really hard if you want to go for always #1.. I understand that it's more into sim side of racing things, but still, I can not enjoy it due to it's difficulty.. Stages themselves also don't let you reach max speeds, lots of twisty turns n stuff.. In general the design is more for the hardcore sim racer .. So I went to the earlier DiRT 3 Complete (PC again) .. And it felt good. Felt great. Control of the car was more stiff though(both games with gamepad) but this one was designed more casual friendly, stages are more fun, despite the aging graphics, really nice routes and good speeds.. Lots of help for the player which you can enable/disable.. All in all a very honest offering. BUT in the end, as expected, I return to fire up Forza Horizon 4 on the Xbox .. I will continue looking for some good PC racer though since prices and deals are sooo much better over there

I've been stupidly addicted to Minecraft the past few months, but I think I'm finally done and can put it down and hopefully move onto something productive.

Hopefully most people here have made an Epic account for a year now, it has given more freebies (AAA games) than one can have enough time to play.. So while I cant decide on my Steam list what to play next (too long ...) I went for the shorter only of freebies on Epic and decided to go blind on Observer... So, I thought it was mostly sci-fi 1st person but after playing for less than 5 minutes the first decapitated body scene comes and... uninstall, I might check it out on youtube though, too old to enjoy horror (on 1st person, 3rd person I find more easy to handle).. So installed Abzu which I already have checked about a year ago on Xbox and try to get into it..
All the while having restarted from scratch Red Dead Redemption 2 because I wanted to make a frest start and otherwise regularly enjoying some retro gaming - mostly arcade stuff though on Coinops(on original xbox)..

I ordered the Super Mario All Stars pack for the Switch and am currently waiting for that to arrive in the mail. I never had an N64 or Gamecube, so anytime playtime I had with Super Mario 64 or Mario Sunshine or Mario Galaxy was probably less than an hour. I plan on rectifying that. Recent playing, though? Playing through the co-op campaign of Sniper Elite 4, which is way more fun than I thought it would be. Played Fall Guys for a couple weeks. Was fun, but it wasn't something I felt I could really sink my teeth into. Still need to finish Death Stranding and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Was having a lot of fun with them before I got wrapped up in playing through and finishing both Days Gone and then Final Fantasy 7.

In the end I did finish Witcher 3 (excellent game), played through Control (which I loved), Metal Gear Solid 5 (which was great for about 40 hours, then I had my fill and stopped - still good though), Death Stranding (which I utterly adored, weird avant-garde imagery and delivering the post, what's not to like?), played a bit of Hardspace: Shipbreaker (which is great, but I'm now going to sit on it until it comes out of early access) and now I'm doing Hades (which is great as well). So I've had a run of playing some really good stuff.
