Top 10 DS physical releases you own. Not particularly "I really like this packaging/layout/etc", rather your favorite DS releases in general that you physically own.
I'm lucky to physically own my top ten:
in order of appearance but not importance:
1.) Abandoned Places - From Lost Paths Remembered in Dream to The Funereal Call
Huge for me. Unlike anyone else's work. Really happy this boxset was put together. Love the newspaper material poster.
2.) Sagenhaft - The Legend of the Forgotten Reign
Incredible atmosphere. Sunny and pastoral narrative medieval melodies. This is the second edition released by Ordo Obscuri Domini, not the very original.
3.) Cernunnos Woods - Forest Anthology
I would put Tears of the Weeping Willow if I had the tape. One of the best examples of an immersive lo-fi atmosphere.
4.) Forgotten Pathways - Shrouded in Mystery
The first DS release I heard as 'Dungeon Synth'. I had heard Burzum before but this was the first one I had heard/read being referred to as DS. The original 90s tape is actually on the way to me right now.
5.) Hedge Wizard - More True than Time Thought
Modern classic. I got frequent messages on discogs asking to sell this before I went on private. I should scan the inside of the J-card because I don't think anyone has seen it.
6.) Visions of Niften - Enthroned in Forests Afar
Crowning gem of the non-TDBS Voldsom releases. Melancholic, odd, and surely 'afar'. Voldsom has had a big influence on my music and my label. I really like what they do with recycled tapes. I'm sure people have criticized it but I can't imagine it any other way.
7.) Old Tower/Sacred Dominions - ...From the Dark Outlands
This is the best tape from the Dutch scene in my opinion. Both sides are superb. My second pick would be Old Tower's The Book of Ages. RIP Crude Form.
8.) Forgotten Kingdoms - Demo I
I like this demo more than the full length. Concise and thoughtful. Lucky to have grabbed this before it sold out after like less than a day.
9.) Mortiis - The Song of a Long Forgotten Ghost
I was surprised to see this at the bottom of the facebook group poll on people's favorite Mortiis release. FTAH is probably my second favorite, but the lo-fi recording and minor mistakes on this really make it special and personal. I'm really glad Foreign Sounds went with the original cover photo.
10.) Til Det Bergens Skyggene - Renhet I
I don't actually have this on tape just yet, but I'll have it soon enough. I really enjoyed the Renhet tapes the most out of his discography. Deep in the hidden woods locked in a cabin music.
I'm sure there are a few favorites of mine that I've forgotten or don't physically own.
How about the rest of you?
