The split preview sounds excellent. I really like the variation you two brought, some beautiful sounding stuff. Looking forward to it. I'm also really excited for the very possible elite FB hate-thread for using Neverending Story as an inspiration point. People were mad at the possibility of Narnia being an inspiration, so I'm sure Neverending Story is like a good three notches below on their fantasy DS purity scale (probably still above Harry Potter, though). Thanks! I remember RJ was not against the Narnia idea but yeah it would be interesting to see how this ranks on the Kvlt-test. But I would defend the book to the death.

I think the opposition was a mix of "it's Christian" and "it's for kids", so whatever. The Hobbit was intended for kids and there's a load of analyses on Christian themes in it, and I'm sure no one has a problem with Hobbit influence. I've only ever seen the first Neverending Story movie and it was like once when I was a kid. I remember it being kind of off-putting, creepy in a very soft way. Actually currently have the first movie on VHS. Never read any of the books.

There's some weird elitism in that facebook group...and I'm not sure why. You almost get the impression that some folks do most of there socializing there, or view themselves as some kind of DS celebrity. It's a bit weird and I'm not a fan of a lot of the hostility I see there. However I'm sure they'd be critical of the forum for having some kind of "circle jerk" dynamic (to use words I've seen used on /mu/ to describe the forum) so to each their own. Obviously I'm a part of both communities and like both and want them to get along but it seems like there are some prominent differences

The second one is watchable, but really misses a lot of the point of the book's second half. The book, on the other hand, was I think written by an anthroposophist, which is the philosophy behind Waldorf schools. There's a bunch of weird vaguely occult symbolism throughout the book, and the surrealist imagery is really tops.

Like, I'm all about refining my ability to express myself musically and aesthetically, and I love some of the social dynamics that happen there. But this will never be a lifestyle for me apart from the fact that I am a musician and I take music very seriously. I love metal and all its offshoots, but yeah the elitism in those circles is just exhausting sometimes.

I noticed that elitism as well, but I don't think the Neverending Story is lame at all, or not kvlt enough, whatever they want. Still the elitism in this scene is not as bad as it is in the metal scene. I barely join metal facebook groups anymore, since most threads/posts are fights about everything. (mostly about bands being fascist or not, or if stuff is too mainstream or not, or whining about bandmembers being gay or other stuff (who the hell cares anyway?)). Everyone should do whatever they want to, listen to music what they like. And if you don't like that, you can say it in a normal way, or you ignore it. But not the continuously bashing that appears sometimes.
I think your project is cool and the diversity of themes is cool as well. It is a welcome change from most Tolkienesque themed DS (I still love that too though).

Loving this - I must say your styles fit together very well, this has a really tripped out 'never ending story good vibe', you both have your own very original unique techniques - which when combined harmonise and counteract - the end result being truly remarkable! πΊ

Wow, your tracks combined with RævJÀger's create a gorgeously seamless listening experience. This split really captures the magic of The Neverending Story, excellent job!
