Hello friends, my name is DIM. I have been in and around the DS world for quite some time, however I have just now released my first work. Like such: DIM - Compendium I: iamdim.bandcamp.com/releasesCompendium marks the precursor of our travelling minstrel's journey. excerpt - Lost in the uncharted eons of time when creatures of legend shared the earth with men, a peaceable kingdom stretched from the fertile valleys, green and verdant, to the ancient, towering forests and even to the far, blue mountains beyond which no eye had seen. Among the rolling hills and blooming glens, lush with all manner of orchards and gardens, the valley towns thrived with barely a thought for any matters beyond their neatly walled fields. Such were the range of a roaming minstrel whose long-told tales and oft-sung songs could be heard in the valley inns and markets. Along the winding roads he occasionally heard whispers from the far countries, intrigues from the king’s household, and murmurs from deep within the tangled forests, deeper even than any of the king’s heroes dared venture. The wonders of such mysteries filled his imagination. And so it was that one cool spring afternoon he determined to leave the familiar lanes of the valley towns and venture to the farthest reaches of the kingdom and--should fortune look kindly upon him--farther still, beyond the wilds and wastes, beyond the far countries, and there to learn the peculiar songs and strange stories of those ancient lands. Thank you for listening, DIM

I like this, sounds very adventurous. Impressively ornate, though I admittedly prefer more of an ambient sound, this is a bit more soundtracky than dungeony. I love the sound of the harp though and this is chock full of it, so that's quite nice for my tastes. Excellent work, I predict you will quickly gain a lot of fans.

Beautiful melodies and superb composition. A real medieval atmosphere with a nice approach to Dungeon Synth. Perhaps this kind of approach gives some fresh air to some listeners that find difficult to stand the Darkness of the Dungeons for too much time. Congratulations for your work.

I like your music dear minstrel! It's not for a dark and moisty dungeon, but rather for a nice court or for travellers roaming in the open air. It reminds me sometimes of some baroque composer (like on Farewell) !

This is simply fantastic stuff. I tend to enjoy the darker side of DS a little more, but at the end of the day great music is great music. Perhaps I'll give more of the lighter stuff a shot. You're obviously very talented and I'd love to hear more of what you have to offer. Thanks for sharing!

This is like the buzz when the first Fief tape came out!
But seriously, good stuff - I think just about everyone will appreciate a lighter, more medieval inspired sound palette from time to time. This still has the ageless quality of good DS, and doesn't hide its other influences, either. Looking forward to what you create next.

Beautiful music. Very nice vocals on the lullaby, not something you hear very often in the genre.

Your comments bring me great joy! I love hearing the specificities of what people take away from music. Thank you greatly. The warm welcome I have received on the DS forums have been immense.

So DIM, what are your plans? Are you working on future releases? Also, what were the musical influences that brought you to DS and informed the soundscapes you created? Just curious...

So DIM, what are your plans? Are you working on future releases? Also, what were the musical influences that brought you to DS and informed the soundscapes you created? Just curious... deandre, My plans are to continue writing for the journey of our travelling minstrel, in the form of these Compendiums. Secondly, I have ideas to also write of the antagonist, in another form. Something more foreboding, closer to something like dark ambient. All these things move forward as the story of our hero moves forward! My musical influences are all over the place. I have been involved in the electronic music realm for many years, as well as formally studying classical piano for many years. These days, I listen to a grotesque amount of movie and game soundtracks. I love everything from Vangelis, to Jeremy Soule, to Tangerine Dream, to Motoi Sakuraba (composer for Dark Souls). Believe it or not, I love to listen to soundtracks from the indie game world as well, such is Stardew Valley's soundtrack, Disasterpeace's amazing works for Hyper Light Drifter. Today and yesterday, I've been listening to this: cryochamber.bandcamp.com/album/sanctumCultus is an amazing piece on that album, if you have the time.

Awesome - I definitely hear a profound Japanese VGM influence in your music (which is also a huge influence on me) - glad to hear I'm not imagining it!

Got your first album last week and I am often listening to it in my car. It is so lovely, and the melodies are great. Brings me almost back to medieval times.
