Hello all, Some of you probably know me for being Niair de Nasqda, a project of Dungeon Synth about a fictional land I created (Pichania), but I'm making this thread about my new noise/DS project Kasjchq. "Kasjchq" is the name of a highly poisonous plant that grows in some areas of Pichania. So, as this is located in the same universe, I consider it a sub-project to that of Niair de Nasqda (which is the one I focus more energy on), and therefore I'm releasing the tracks and albums in the same bandcamp page.

And here is the first track I've released today, I made it a copule of weeks ago, and now it comes out along with a story adapted from what Lithine ( Moonolith) interpreted of the track as she was hearing it. The story is on the bandcamp page, but I'm posting it here too: "Thyrnor is an alchemist, and also a magician apprentice, from Oorania, the northernmost realm of Pichania. Dressed in a black hooded tunic, he travelled southwards and went inside a forest looking for herbs that are not found elsewhere. He carries a bag where he keeps herbs in glass bottles and instruments to make potions. He also carries some potions in his belt in case he needs them any moment. Although he can defend himself using magic, he gets tired soon when using it, so he needs the large sword that his older brother gave him, and that he wears it on his back.
In the nighttime he puts himself to rest on a stone by the riverside of a river that runs across the forest. There, hearing the noise of crickets, he looks at the sky, contemplating it. At first there is calm, but then Thyrnor hears something, a strange sudden sound coming from the forest, at the other side of the river. He gets up from the stone and stares at the dark among the trees, just to hear a much louder noise from the woods behind him, where there are many more trees. Thyrnor turns around and looks towards the heart of the forest, and a sudden spooky cold wind makes him shiver. Scared, he starts to run along the river.
Soon, he starts seeing lights in the distance. They convey tranquillity as he is hurrying towards them. Once there, he can see that they are animals that are having a party, playing different instruments. A white rabbit with red eyes is playing a kind of drum, a duck plays the xylophone, and the rest hide just as Thyrnor arrives. The animals heard something that the he didn't. But the protagonist starts hearing it too, as the noise is getting louder, and all the animals are hidden now. He decides to hide with them, but the animals don't let him.
He keeps running and gets lost in the forest. Suddenly, he stumbles and falls down an unseen precipice. The fall seems eternal to Thyrnor, as if time stood still. He is looking at the brightness of the moon and stars as he falls. Then, before touching the ground something slows him down. The white rabbit with red eyes has come to his aid. He put a kind of bed, made with leaves. The rabbit asks the protagonist to go with him because the forest scared him and he did not get along well with the rest of the animals. Thyrnor accepts, and in that moment they hear that sound again and they run away.
They keep running until arriving at a clearing with daylight, even though it was still dark in the forest. At last, they get out of that nightmare together. When crossing the clearing, they find a grandiose meadow full of flowers, and they see a castle next to a lake in the distance, to where they are going. They feel happy, but their fate is unknown. They go towards a castle where they do not know what's going to be inside."
That's it. My intention with the track is to make the noise something dynamic that accompanies the melodies rather than a constant noise, so the noise level can be as high as 70% or as low as 30% I think. I'd like some feedback on the track, as I'm not sure if I should label it Dungeon Noise, because I'm not sure of the "dungeon" part. Regards, Niair/SolarWeave

Somehow it sounds like Sunn O))) who decided to add dungeon synth to it. And this is meant positively because you bring the two worlds well together without clashing. The noise isn't overwhelming, but it adds a good dynamic to it.

I take the comparison with Sunn o)) as a compliment, I haven't listened much to the band but I liked their album "Black One" and some other tracks I've heard. I still have not heard their entire discography, though.

Hello everyone, the next (actually the first) Kasjchq album (an EP), is coming. Maybe tomorrow, maybe in a few hours. The style is a take on Dungeon Noise more similar to the 'Rɐkapɽæq̊' track than to the track that appeared on the Altar of an Abandoned Sun compilation. The concept of the album revolves around this story: "In the fields and mountains surrounding Nasqda, there used to be many eatable plants, being notable of mention the wild variant of the tasty Jnasci, well-known in the local gastronomy. As a result of the reckless mechanisation of the harvest, today most of the plants on the soil have zero nutritive properties or are even poisonous, like the deadly Kasjchq, which is extremely similar in appearance to the wild Jnasci. Meanwhile, the Carnivians, an activist organisation advocating plants' rights is aggressively trying to convince the population to eat only meat to save the plants. Failing in their purpose, they are starting to attack and kill people in order to reduce the population, so there would be less eaters of plants in the future. An old man climbing the mountains to reach the peak of Nasqda is attacked by a group of Carnivians, being seriously injured by them and deprived of his provisions, which are stolen. In a quest for survival, he only finds a plant. Being doubtful about the plant being a wild Jnasci or a Kasjchq, he risks his life and eats a berry from it, dying poisoned immediately after."
By now, you can hear this track off the album:
I hope you enjoy it.

This is incredible. Intro caught me immediately. Really rich textures and a sound entirely of its own. Enjoying the accompanied plant differentiation guide, I love total world immersion like this.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad that you liked it.
I have the purpose of always accompanying my (Niair and Kasjchq) albums (excluding the singles) with some extra material. As stories are a bit typical, this time I thought something more technical (and about plants) was going to be perfect. And hopefully that would make more people interested in wild plants in the real world.

Very enjoyable Dungeon Noise. The simplistic layout with the distortion makes for great atmosphere.
