I've played it a couple times at work and I do *like* it. The production is top-notch which is a little refreshing for this style. That being said, I went to put it on for a 3rd time today and found myself feeling kind of bored and switched to Castle Zagyx instead. So make of that what you will.

Hey Stormcrow just listening and I really find it good enough if not plus ++ ... I don't compare it to the original and I didn't want to lighten up my memory before listening to this release but I do enjoy it a lot while on the 3rd listen already... I also am quite grateful that Mortiis decided to do another pure DS album and maybe he could also release even more, I would appreciate it really!! I will be honest in that if I listened to it completely blindly I'd guess it maybe could be Barak Tor not Mortiis but this shows again that it's as good as anyone could expect! Total support is my opinion on this release!

I'd guess it maybe could be Barak Tor not Mortiis Yeah, and Murgrind too. It's got that big, epic cinematic score kind of feeling.

Indeed, and that reminds me that I should also listen to latest Murgrind which is also on my every growing listen-to-asap list Stormcrow mate what you didN'T like of the latest Mortiis ?? Just wanna read your thoughts of it also since you seem you didn't enjoy it (?) ..

Stormcrow mate what you didN'T like of the latest Mortiis ?? Just wanna read your thoughts of it also since you seem you didn't enjoy it (?) .. that's right. Even if "I don't like it" does not necessarily mean "it's shit". So, the last Mortiis album is unuseful to me, each note feels like "too boring, but there's a DS hype out there and I have to ride it until I can". Of course, this "new" album is not technically bad... ah: technically, it's somehow better than the 1994's version. Anyway, everything here seems to be the old midi files of "Anden..." now quantized with some Cubase automation, with new industrial percussions added. The magic, the free-time attitude, the far-away sounding drums that made "Anden..." such a disorienting, neomedieval dark album....is COMPLETELY missing here. These are my thoughts, not the whole of the law. Maybe 10 years from now I will realize that "Spirit of Rebellion" is my favourite Mortiis album.....

I posted about this in the main DS You're Listening too thread - but I really the new record. But, I do have a liking for a 'cinematic'/soundtrack influenced style.
However, I also think stormcrow suggesting that the only reason we have a new Mortiis DS-style record is that Mortiis wants a piece of the current interest in DS is probably bang on. I would be surprised if he had spontaneously got the inspiration to make a new record in this style...

I liked the woodwind parts but honestly nothing else really grabbed me. So no I guess I didn't like it. I don't think sounding this professional does justice to this kind of music because it starts to sound like just another modern video game soundtrack. I don't think it's a bad album but it certainly is not for me. I'm still glad Mortiis found this style of music again.

Just curious, is anyone else around the Portland,OR area going to see Mortiis this summer? I didn't purchase the tickets for the Enchanted Forest because they were a little steep (even though it sounded like an awesome experience) but I'm looking forward to seeing the performance the following day.
