Wow, this person has covered a lot of stuff. I see the DS coverage is a little more recent but there's definitely some interesting stuff to pick over. Clicked the first review and was instantly greeted with such a hot take:
"I’ll say it, this is basically Mortiis but better. Well really, most artists who copied Mortiis were better than him, but that’s another topic entirely." - Thangorodrim "Taur-nu-Fuin" review
Damn. "Most artists" who copied Mortiis were better at the epic sound? I don't agree, but I appreciate such a genuine alternative take. Someone invite this person to the board, haha.
Yeah, I found that interesting. Also in the Sequestered Keep review he says: It's definitely a well-loved classic, but best and most famous? I don't know about that, although it seems like a unique and interesting perspective.

I tend to disagree about "Artists who copied Mortiis" were better, I think Mortiis is one of the few who can(could?) produce songs in the 20++ minute that are interesting and enjoyable throughout, not to mention that he actually got it completely right atmosphere - wise..
But about Depressive Silence's II (Mourning) I'd say that based on what I've seen on the FB page, here, on bandcamp etc. , I believe it deserves the legendary status it has and certainly it would be the 1st album I'd propose to someone if he was checking out DS.. And it certainly is *not* unique perspective , many people believe it (probably the DS album with the most comments in bandcamp btw I think)..

I'm not worried at all about it. This happens at every revival... so Malice suddenly become better than Judas Priest etc. That's how things go in music....I've seen this so many times....

It's great of course, but I guess I didn't realize it was the absolute favorite for many people.

Looks that way, this is really sad, I was enjoying the reviews of older stuff. Doubly sad with the dungeon demise of Kaptain Carbon's reviews...

There are no more channels spreading the word, except the DS Archives. That blog had serious competence, it's a pity to see it abandoned. We'll keep tweaking synths anyway...

This is good. Reading reviews is sometimes even more enjoyable than listening to music. And combined!

Yesterday, the author posted this:
Because I'm an old, old man I can't work out how to leave a comment on Tumblr, so I thought I'd write it here in case the author is a forum member (as I suspect he is!)
The blog means a lot, it's a source of great recommendations and the detail in which you analyse the records is really cool, that Iagon review, for instance made me want to find out what a Fender Rhodes is... So keep doing it!
