Hello dungeoneers, I just came up with this topic in my head and got a bit curious. Are there other dungeon synth artists/listeners that have been inspired by or just enjoy some local music? I know it's a bit of a vague explanation but let me give my own experience as an example: I was born in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands, and as many regions in each country, Groningen has its own dialect of Dutch (Gronings). There was this singer who sang in dialect, Ede Staal, and just perfectly captured the atmosphere of the landscape there in his music. This has also influenced me as an artist, be it in painting, music or writing. I just sometimes think of my homeland and inevitably Ede's music which is connected to it in my mind. Maybe it's a bit clearer now what I mean haha. I am really curious if there are others on here with a similar experience. Or if you haven't, maybe you do have a view on this and would like to share your thoughts. Just something that crossed my mind

Awesome topic! It deserves a very deep investigation and argumentation, i think. Here in Tuscany we have typical folk songs called "stornelli", an extremely simple styling based on essential chord progressions, alternating bass (mostly root and fifth), and popular tempo signatures like 2/4 or swinged 4/4. Rome also has the "stornelli romani" as the most typical folk styling. Both styles from Florence and Rome have slightly more elaborated slow ballads, too. It's hard to say if they could have a direct musical influence on DS or metal musicians....they are so different! The atmospheres does not fit easily on rock and similar styles. But I can't swear on it. It would be a great challenge to try some "contamination". Let me know if you're interested in some listening
