Another genre-bending album, part Italian prog, part space disco, with Jarre & Moroder vibes, also a precursor to italo disco.

A recent Italo mix by Flemming Dalum. More on the vocal/anthem side of things, but a lot of classics in there too.
An earlier 2006 FD mix of mostly instrumental & spacey italo here:

A spacey synth-pop vibe to this one, very catchy chorus. Blanco Y Negro reissued it earlier this year.

Excellent one emerge, great rec, although only thing that kinda ruins it are the entry 80s intro sounds, very much far from the actual song.. PRopably with an edit it'd be fine though for play Excellent rec.. I wanted to post a similar -bad few secs intro vocals etc- song that is strong afterwards, but its on the boundaries of the topic (Synthwave it is), but I'll post it anyway since I think we don't have an appropriate Synthwave thread (and I should make one I guess - also , I see -quality- synthwave as a something of an equivalent for the retro 80s Science fiction of Dungeon Synth and fantasy really, excellent genre)... So here it is : I should really make a dedicated Synthwave thread so I not mess this 80s Italian one..

PRopably with an edit it'd be fine though for play Excellent rec.. Haha, yes this is true. I can think of a handful of great italo records with terrible intros! I think it could be that many synths were new at the time, and they were saying "hey look what I can do!" with the intros, which often had little to do with the song. For awhile vocoders were popular, so you'd hear them on a lot of "spacey" records. Another common case with italo is a bad vocal over an excellent synth arrangement. The instrumental usually becomes more popular then, or if the vocal is cheesy enough it can *sometimes* be appreciated too.

Rockets was a French space rock band that started in 1974. I've heard this crossover song in a few italo mixes, but never knew the history of this band. Unlike most italo acts, Rockets played their instruments live. Very dramatic space/synth ballad from 1982!
