Iβve been looking at some Ravenloft art and have concluded: D&D:Ravenloft::DS:Wampyr DS Which harkens back to the literature topic a bit, this fantasy adventure versus gothic horror. I dunno, just a dumb analogy that popped into my head I have still never played a non computerized D&D game, but when I was a kid Ravenloft was all I wanted to explore. Then I started reading licensed books from the Vampire:The Masquerade rpg and it all kinda solidified from there. I've played maybe 3 actual D&D games in my life time, but I've always loved the game books, particularly the rogue kind of character books and the darker supplements like the Book of Vile Darkness. Ravenloft was always a favorite concept of mine, too. I haven't read any of the WW novels, but the game books have been pretty influential on my sense of fantasy. Wraith is such a kool concept. I haven't checked out Demon or Mummy, but I have like 6 other game books and a few supplementals.

The first π¬ππππππππ release was a concept album focusing on various vampyric themes. The album is called "At The Gates Of Castle Dracula", and it is available on bandcamp. The album download includes a free ebook; an English-language copy of Dracula by Bram Stoker. Quoting myself: You can listen/download here: aufhocker.bandcamp.com/album/at-the-gates-of-castle-dracula

What are some of the 'must listen' artists of this sub-set of DS then?
Lamentation is a given really. I would also say Crypt of Carmilla and ErszΓ©bet (Adam, your excellence continues to be a wonder to me).

I'm unsure how much it's influenced the current subset of vamp-themed DS, though. Either way, it's an underrated project.

I also think in hindsight that the Letter for Carmilla albums Lamentation and Coffin are pretty essential listening for this genre, or at least they have become that way for me since their release. There's so much similar music that's not dungeon synth with vampire themes, like that Nox Arcana Transylvania album, or the score to Bram Stoker's Dracula, that help to clarify how to do it in DS, I think.

I actually introduced myself to the YouTube version of that Lamentation song, read about the difference in the comment section and it blew my mind. That WvΓ‘mpyrzΓ©rkr tape sounds top notch by the way.
