now playing: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TAMg1T98Rk...but I hardly label this one as "doom"...it's more Epic Metal to me, just like the "Iron Will" album by Grand Magus or stuff like that.

Went on a walk today and heard a guy practice super heavy doom metal bass riffs really loud from his home. It sounded pretty awful. I hung around for a bit to see if it was like some long intro bass riff for like a sludgey stoner doom song, like a full band would come in at some point, but it didn't. Just him banging out this real long distorted riff, off-time and somewhat awkwardly. Was maybe 5 notes in total. Don't know why I'm sharing this exacly, but everyone send out positive energy for his practice sessions to improve. We're rooting for you, bassman.

Hopefully his bass playing will get better soon, after all of this lockdown

Warning is excellent, have you heard that dudeβs other band 40 Watt Sun? m.youtube.com/watch?v=STBl-vvQAKcHeartwrenching, yearning beautiful stuff. The more recent albums take out the distortion entirely, which is an interesting take on the format.

The aforementioned Candlemass was my favorite band for a few years, as I've got their first six cds. Trouble is a 360% utterly perfect name for not only a heavy metal band, but also one that has spirital themes in their lyrics! Saying they took Black Sabbath's sound along with having Led Zepplin's singer is a pretty good summary of them for the most part.

Dead Nenderthals is a 2 piece free jazz band from NL. They created this awesome death/doom/drone album with only drums, vocals, and synth.
