Their first 3 albums are defintion of Norwegian / pure BM to me. Not that much into their later stuff...

I really like Pentagram...besides that,I've never listened to them that much except some random stuff I would stumble upon on youtube. Nevertheless, they are on my to-listen list, since they can really suprise with certain melodies or riffs...maaneskyggens slave is the perfect example...

This type of riffs is the main reason why I can't get enough of true BM. You have lots of it on Antichrist and Under the Sign of Hell, too.

I can't help thinking of 2 different bands when talking about Gorgoroth. But I really like both. Their ternary-time breaks are a true trademark since Pentagram, and had a lot of influence on what is now called folk black metal. Destroyer is a great and unique album too, though so underrated!

I absolutely understand what you mean when you say that lmao. I'd say I'm a Gorgoroth fan but I always feel like I have to specify I'm talking about the material without Ghaal and King Ov Hell. Nothing against them personally but I always found their incarnation of Gorgoroth to be really generic - "typical Norsecore", as me and my friends would say. Their output after Destroyer seemed to strip away at all the interesting things the band were doing from the start. Even after Infernus rejoined, I feel they don't live up to their 90's output, though there's always a few gems to check out every album.

Antichrist is probably my favourite, also helped by the fact it is a really short album so no time for it to start getting boring. COLD riffs like the best of the Norweigian scene at the time bringing to mind the likes of early Darkthrone, first Satyricon album and all that. Never cared for Gorgoroth's later stuff really.
