Agree that Japanese Hardcore is among the best stuff! I love the virtuosity in their music. It's like they listened to a ton of Iron Maiden and then wrote punk riffs. Some of my favourite punk bands come out of Japan: D-Clone, Framtid, Effigy, Zyanose, Death Side, Life, Zoe, Attack SS, Abraham Cross, Gauze, Disclose, GISM, Bastard, Acrostix, Fuck On The Beach, Battle of Disarm, Contrast Attitude, Age, Ferocious X, Kriegshög, System Fucker, Romantic Gorilla, etc.

I love each and everyone of those.

Whilst I dig hardcore a lot (with the exception of crust, never really got into that), Oi! is where it's at for me. There aren't too many good newer bands, but Live By The Sword with their US of Oi! meets Skrewdriver -sound has thoroughly impressed me.

Same here man! I'm diggin hc/punk scene from whole around the world from a long, long time and japanese one is one of my favourites. Personaly I'm really into this d-beat/crustie/blastbeats side of hc/punk as well as noisy, weirdo stuff, so japanese scene suits my taste. Also I've been involved in couple punk bands through this years. My newest one is called TORPUR and we play something that we are calling "goblin punk". Have a listen for yourselfes: torpur.bandcamp.com/Here you have our demo called DUNGEON ROCK: torpur.bandcamp.com/album/dungeon-rock-demoIt was recorded in our tiny dungeon-cellar with no fucks given attitude and I must say I'm still deeply in love in first two songs ; ) Hope you'll like it : )

More hardcore with grind influence, but I feel like this demo is underrated. nativegraves.bandcamp.com Used to play shows with these dudes and live they were fucking wild. Also of note, the drummer/vocalist is now in the band Infernal Coil with Blake from Dead in the Dirt. Music reminds me of bands like Cursed and Hierophant. I like it.

I'm not much familiar with punk or industrial, but I think the Mill sounds really cool, very raw, intense, and eclectic. I wasn't able to connect with SwampHög yet, but I will give it a few more listens, the genre is far afield for me.

I wasn't able to connect with SwampHög yet, but I will give it a few more listens, the genre is far afield for me. Thanks very much! The Mill material is just a tiny fraction of what we did, besides the more song-oriented stuff we'd spend hours and hours tinkering around improvising with loops and noise. I wish we had gotten that more industrial dark ambient style stuff recorded. SwampHög was an interesting case, we were sort of an "accidental" band. The drummer and guitarist were my neighbors who hosted a pretty regular casual barbecue/pot-luck. We'd eat like kings get loaded and jam with no real purpose behind it. Eventually we started writing songs and became an actual band. At the time I was listening to a lot of black metal, the guitarist was into punk and classic rock, and the drummer was into traditional heavy metal and very heavily into Ween. We weren't try to sound like anything in a particular, I guess the resulting sound was from where all of influences met in the middle.

My band is playing again. I am into hc/punk from mid 80's, that's how I got into underground / diy, etc... We recorded few older tracks very raw just to have something there in current line up. Hope to record new tracks too, probably not so raw but we go for the old school approach still with some ideas of our own. Crust always had a bit of medieval / pagan thing going on too, not a surprise as it is a melting pot of hardcore punk, metal and post punk. nuclearaltar.bandcamp.com/album/wasteland-filth

Poison Ruin are cool. Not very fast and hardcore, more on anarho punk side with some current post punk influences and pure dungeon synth interludes.
