I'm a huge fan of Humandeath, it's some of the most unsettling music I've heard. To me it just sounds so inhuman and desolate, a quality which is augmented by the brutally mechanical rhythm of the notes. I can understand though that most people would probably hate it for the same reasons. And I guess that whether or not you can call it DS is also up for debate. archive.org/details/gt245Humandeath-IcedShore/

Attic Shrines releases certainly fall into this category

I would say most/all of the stuff by Trollkjerring easily fits this bill, although I’m not sure if that projects leans moreso towards dark ambient than dungeon synth. Spirit of Iuvenium (another project by the same artist), while maybe not quite as so much unsettling as the Trollkjerring stuff, I think also is a good example

Attic Shrines releases certainly fall into this category I agree, and he is becoming my favorite dungeon label for this reason! I love that most all the releases are so decrepit and purely experimental... I think the disregard for scene trends really draws the whole atmosphere into an acutely personal darkness. I can't tell how many of those releases are the same person/people but something special is going on for sure. The Fylgja release has been the most "traditional" dungeon synth to my ears but even that is permeated with such a personal feeling of loneliness and transcendence. Getting that and the Cassilda tape in the same package was probably one of the most ecstatically melancholy experiences I've gotten from a tape mail day in a while. I'm surprised Tyrannus's dungeon drone / noise tapes haven't been mentioned. Those albums are quite a trip, tonally maybe similar to Alder Deep but more sinister in my opinion. I am not a diehard fan of LLN like some but I am really surprised that anyone could not be impressed by the extreme level of darkness and experimentation contained in those recordings. It's not a mood I go for often as I'm not a huge fan of "vampyric" stuff but I definitely consider it to be in the same vein as dungeon synth and very high quality material.

reirazinho , well this is certainly interesting. Hadn't come across this before. Reminds me of LLN projects a bit, not just because of the French text, but it has that single take chaotic minimal DIY kind of thing going on that's very individual and creepy. Kool tape, surprised there are a few left of such a limited release. If anyone's wanting something that is physically and psychologically taxing I highly recommend the second album by Black Age. Takes a lot from an artist to make you feel ill and generally uncomfortable, but it's worth experiencing something like that at least once. This album will probably do it for you. Single 40 min track of just pure decay, and I don't mean that in the generic edgy way that a lot of black ambient artists use that descriptor, this one's the real deal.

I listened to the Black Age album and it seems very expressive and uncomfortable. Did not know. Another recommendation I have is Boudoir Philosophy.

Ghosts of Oceania - Demo I ghostsofoceania.bandcamp.com/album/demo-iPretty cool dark ambient. Sounds super raw and was recorded with an old dictaphone. It kind of reminds me of magic find, seems like something Attic Shrines could release.

Just to fill out the unmentioned classics...
Vervamon - The Path through the Ever Green Forest - this is indeed a journey through a forest, but at night, and full of shapes, and shadows which lurk just at the corner of your eye and disappear whenever you turn your head. And.. Is that drumming in the distance that you hear, or just your mind playing tricks?
An Old Sad Ghost - Berstende Ehre - music to cut yourself to and lose all hope. Soaked in reverb, kettledrums, and mixed in a witch's cauldron that burns white, and blue, and green. Solitude, emptiness, despair.

Especially the first two songs 'Medival' and 'Geißler' are awsome.

Berstende Ehre is ACTUALLY a great album, maybe the best from AOSG if we do not consider his self-titled one. BUT: do you know that he released Berstende Ehre on September 2019 on Bandcamp as MIDIEVAL? Well, I obviously bought that album on release because I thought it was great but....hey, it definitely went overlooked...or could I say totally unseen?!?!? I'm honest, I was asking myself WHY no one pays the right attention to Berstende Ehere back then! Here's the proof...only 7 supporters including me, just one comment (mine): "Curiously", the album itself started working fine and got some attention ONLY after having rebranded it as An Old Sad Ghost and published on tape through Gondolin. This is also the story of other DS products. So that's the truth unveiled: no one cares anymore about the Music.

I think the problem is that there is so much DS around now and there are new releases on daily basis. It's the same problem like indie games have. The market is oversaturated and so it's very difficult to gain attention for a new release if you are not already one of the well known artists. Because of the pure amount of music most people don't dig trough bandcamp themself but relate on any form of curator(like the DS Archives or the big lables) in order to find new music. I do not think this is because people don't care about good music but because time is one of the most limited resources in our mordern days and people outsource the work of listening trough tons of new releases to find good stuff. The downside of this system is that artists that do not have a lable or get covered on The DS Archives or have enough luck to go viral on the social media probably get ignored.

Spiked bat & Snuff Compound - Tragic Ending spikedbat.bandcamp.com/album/tragic-endingThis is some truly disturbing Synth music. Composed of eerie synths with samples of court trials for disturbing crimes. Cassette for this was released earlier this year on murder on ponce.
