I've just made the entire AUFHOCKER discography free for the next... uhh.. until... umm... I don't know. It's free right now. Get it. aufhocker.bandcamp.comI'm struggling without work and without an income right now, and it sucks. I'm sure a lot of you are, as well. The supporters of my project Aufhocker, unbeknownst to them, have helped me when I needed it the most with their contributions, and I am forever thankful for their support.
I want to return the favour to the DS community that has helped me when I needed it. So, I'm making the Aufhocker discography free for a limited time. All 32 Aufhocker releases are free right now. Spread the word for me. I don't use social media. Spread this info on Facebook or VK, please. Propagate this to wherever there are DS fans. To everyone. Fuck it, it's free. Sharing a link takes ten seconds. I'm sure some people would appreciate it. Hook them up. aufhocker.bandcamp.comβ§To me this is a post about promotion nothing more- in the hope of achieving more financial success.

Can you teach me this magic trick? Financial success? Are you kidding, or are you actually this simple?

Haha chill mate very kind of you to give your work away for free just poking fun I but I apologise for chiding you when you obviously have noble intentions in very trying times. Not to mention Aufhocker is amazing!

A matter of choice. Mine is on NYP but I don't give free codes as I want the people that actually supported me to be on the list there.

DS should always be free to download - for the amount of free downloads Bandcamp allows for that record. Other than that, people should pay to actually receive something physical like a tape or whatever. I think the DS community is pretty close knit though and mostly pay what they can, anyway, right? If not always, at the very least, occasionally?

Before I say anything, I need to specify I've never "made" dungeon synth. I've never recorded and published any material specifically, so I can only really talk about this from the perspective of a fan and not an artist. I've found I gravitate towards groups that put out their material physically or offer a free stream on Bandcamp or YouTube. Fief and Yearner became such beloved bands to me because I could throw their tapes on whenever I felt like. There's certainly a couple bands that slowly dropped off my radar because they didn't make a bandcamp or because I didn't want to keep a bunch of tiny label's pages bookmarked for months, waiting for "that" release to finally drop.
On the other hand, I'm aware it's hard to do that. There isn't exactly a lot of money in dungeon synth and I bet even the biggest artists make music just as a hobby or passion project. I imagine while working on a physical release is exciting, it's also draining and expensive so I understand why bands do inevitably want to get some return for their investment. I've payed for digital-only releases before and I'm sure I always will if that's what it takes to keep people making amazing music.
