I hope others are watching the stream on Twitch - first night went great minus a handful of tech hiccups. Super grateful to the festival organizers and all the other performers for giving me what felt like my first social experience in weeks. Posting this thread for people to weigh in here and not just in the twitch chat or FB groups. anyone have any thoughts on night one so far? I personally was blown away by Shrouded Gate, who made some beautiful DS that was HI-fi without being too cinematic. Of course I was excited to see all the rest of the performances, even the Foglord video which happened as a result of internet issues that prevented it from being a proper stream. It was extra special to hear Fogweaver more-or-less live after missing DSW last year. Anyone want to weigh in? LINK: m.twitch.tv/northeastdungeonsiege

Haven't seen anything due to working for work @ home :/ so video is distracting but I will catch up watching later any recommendations!! Shrouded Gate is already then after Nahadoth's rec check to listen! Nice..
Of course some nice personal feedback from people who already played and their experience will be nice to read, how it all went along and felt under these strange circumstances!

I was in and out a bit last night due to work but managed to catch a little bit of everyone. Really enjoyed Malfet's tunes. Hadn't really listened before. Jenn is the high priestess of pew-pew laser sounds and she's super duper badass. Foglord was a nice, relaxing end to the night.
I managed to watch everyone tonight! The whole event was super enjoyable and everyone brought something awesome and unique to the table. Musically my favourite artist from the roster is Khand. Gotta love Sombre Arcane's setup though and the Kantele really gives them an edge lots of others don't have. Alder Deep was some of the wildest shit I've ever seen/heard in my life, I was captivated. Mystal Tree was sick! Loved the spoken word passages and the inclusion of singing always gets me stoked. Very prog rock. Arcana Liturgia has such wonderful songs. I was totally zoning out.
Looking forward to tomorrow! The chat is so much fun.

Same with you element0s. Really incredible vibe with your live stream, and such a great start to the evening.

I'll try to keep it as concise as possible. Night 1: The first night was great. Shrouded Gate is one of the best newer artists in the genre I've heard, and a total nice guy to boot. Francis Roberts sounded great, though his video died and it looked a chair playing music, but it was really good. Jenn Taiga is a masterful synth player; lots of Berlin School vibes and some amazing textures and leads. Great performance. Orb of the Moons always kills it. Dark ambience with a plethora of hardware synths. His ear for subtleties and soundscapes is incredible. Malfet is always amazing. His playing ability is top-notch and his aesthetic is perfect. I really liked the vibe. Fogweaver was really good and is one of my favorite DS acts out there. The set was great. I'd like to see it in person some day. Foglord was a perfect way to end the night and I enjoyed his set quite a bit. Looked like he was playing in a shed?
Night 2: Well, this was a crazy day initially. I hadn't been practicing in weeks due to the Coronavirus stuff because my synths are in a band room on the other side of the city and I've been trying to quarantine when I can, heh. So in the morning I was practicing as much as I could, took everything down and went to the NEDS headquarters there to set up. Josh and Shane need all the props in the world. As you can imagine it can get chaotic organizing these streams and everything else. Both are doing a fantastic job. Now onto the music: Encloaked was superb. I think he is one of the best pianists in the genre I've heard, and it showed in his musicianship and compositions. Great set. Seregost - unfortunately his feed cut out about ten minutes in and as you can imagine is was chaotic in the NEDS room with Shane trying to scramble to fix it. They put on one of his recorded tracks and then the feed eventually came back. Despite all of this, it was great nonetheless. I think he should do video game music. Mystal Tree- what can I say? Adam continues to impress with his ingenious artistic approach to his projects. He is an amazing at his craft and the set sounded great. He has a good voice. Unfortunately I missed some of the set because I was gearing up for my performance. Khand - so literally a minute before I went on, I mistakenly saved over a synth patch I use quite a bit and I couldn't get it to sound right. Ended up using another one but man, what a rookie mistake, hah! Overall I thought my set went OK; it's really hard to see what you're doing in a mask and a robe but it's fun I suppose. Alder Deep was great. I was surprised by his attire, or lack thereof. But it didn't take away from the music. Creepy, enchanting, yet melodic in some ways. Sombre Arcane always kills it. Shane has gotten better at playing keys and the new stuff is amazing. I was lucky to have front row seats for the set... Right behind the camera. Arcana Liturgia - great set! The songs are composed extremely well and he did a great job, especially for playing 5AM his time. I Can't imagine doing that!
The chat was wild both nights, hah. It's great to see so many people tuning in.
On to day 3!

My fave sets so far were Jenn Taiga, Fogweaver, Mystal Tree, Encloaked, Khand, Sombre Arcane, Francis (though I couldn't see him) and Alder Deep. Y'all are super talented and awesome! Such a diverse range of different styles all working perfectly together.

Shoot, I've had like no time to tune in. Sounds like the sets have been pretty kool though. Was able to catch a tiny bit of Arcana Liturgia last night. Really glad everyone has come together to still make things happen on some level.
Are the streams being saved or archives afterward? I'm not sure how Twitch handles that kind of stuff, if streams are saved or if they're only live unelss someone is recording it another way. Really need to see the Xuthal set.

God damn it tonight was insane. What a roller coaster. Dronn was completely out of control and I was basically yelling at my TV the entire time. What a rager.
I didn't know I could have post-fest depression without leaving my house

Who ripped the streams? I missed out on many acts. What I saw was great. Very good community. Great fun.

I was told that the gentleman who runs the Midnight Ambiance Podcast grabbed days 2 + 3. Hopefully we'll see them online soon!

OK wait. I'm not savvy on the Twitch platform, so I get it that videos/streams there are NOT automatically saved and available later like youtube ? Am I right ? And if so, why wasn't youtube selected in the first place ?
Either way on this mess of a page that is twitch itself I checked and indeed besides small clips no full show or like is available, but on Midnight Ambience's page I saw at least an 8 hour video so there's that.. Hopefully the guy will have saved and upload some more and do all a favor, but still, WHY TWITCH in the first place and not youtube? Dunno really..

Hopefully the guy will have saved and upload some more and do all a favor, but still, WHY TWITCH in the first place and not youtube? Dunno really.. TLDR: A lot to to, a little time to do it in. Recording was not a priority. We were trying to give the best experience. A lot of work went into this In a very short time frame with absolutely no previous experience, and honestly recording it had never been one of our top priorities. Just like last year in the live setting, it was a nice to have not a need to have. We ran out of time. We said night one that anyone can record it but that we weren’t. In our testing Twitch was very inconsistent in saving and we don’t have the hard drive space to back it up locally or time to troubleshoot. We only had two weeks, on top of our regular life responsibilities,to work with everything and figure it out. We had cancellations and back-filling going on right up to the day before. All in all I think it went really well. At the end of the day no expects every (or really any?) concert to be backed up. I get the disappointment but also, I don’t get the expectation. I’m sorry if this comes off as overly defensive, as that isn’t my intention.

Great mate, thanx a lot for the details and indeed the time gaps were pretty tight with all this situation, let alone the disappointment of it and trying to set it up immediately for everyone to enjoy around the globe, respect really for everyone involved!! I am pretty sure anyway most will be uploaded if that's the word around.. Nice again!
