I love the Mellotron and have done so since I first heard it, obviouisly most commonly connected with prog rock. Is there any Dungeon Synth which features it? I know it is unlikely any artists have access to an actual one but sometimes software can sound pretty good also!

Excellent, thanks for the tips! I am listening to Fortress of Mystery as I type. Jean Rollin inspired DS with mellotron. Bliss!

Highly recommend Francis Roberts and Jenn Taiga. If you can find their set they did for NEDS, watch it. Amazing stuff. On the demo track Mortiis premeired during the seige he used a mellotron VST.

This is my kind of thread. As a prog nerd in addition to my many other failures - I'm also keen to hear recommendations about DS artists that have used the Mellotron! I used a (software) one on my track Land Of Dead Heroes - sparingly (comes in for the first time about 0:30), as if I'd let myself go I would have just tried to make it into a prog song. glomstriden.bandcamp.com/track/land-of-dead-heroes(great recommendations so far)

Great, I will check your album out! Also I see you are in Bristol, not quite there myself as I am in Cornwall but nice to know of someone geographically close to me! Bristol is where I tend to go for gigs (not as often as I used to though)

Thanx a lot for the recommendations, Francis Roberts had *almost* slipped under my radar, I had a song from him checked from some compilation and never knew there was an album, certainly a very nice find, good catch.
/off-topic but man, sometimes how imaginery and relevance can help, if Francis Roberts had used a proper (imho) Dungeon Synth name and artwork maybe lot more people would have discovered it earlier!

Had more than a few listens of "Shimmering Presence" , great stuff that I liked, it actually grew in me after the first listens a lot, strongly recommended to everyone, such nice unique sound..

Ah, excellent - Yes, Bristol has a great selection of venues - I'm usually out at gigs quite a lot and very much hoping as many as possible survive being shut!
