G'day from down under, I have been preparing for a small cassette run to be coupled with the digital release of a project. Others in Australia, I'm sure you understand how expensive and difficult Australian Post is when it comes to shipping outside of Australia. Shipping a mere cassette to the US or the UK can be anywhere between $25-$30 a pop. Any fellow Australians or similar found workarounds or potential solutions for this? I'm completely prepared to order the tape duplication, and I'm considering maybe either: - Having cassettes manufactured in Aus by my local supplier, and shipped to the USA/Europe for distribution from a central point (via 'drop shipping', or fulfillment centres?); or
- Arranging for manufacture AND distribution overseas.
Any insights or stories would be appreciated. I would prefer to take a self-published approach to distribute under my own brand if possible. Sincere regards, Nightcrawler

Find some DS/BM distro in europe to take a bunch of copies? that's the traditional way I guess. Some labels will trade, either for a batch of copies of someone else's release for you to also distro at your end, or even for a load of individual titles for your collection i don't have any particular recommendations tho as am totally out of the loop Or find a EU/US label/s to do a co-release with? That sort of thing happens a lot in grind/hardcore scene, which is why they can release vinyl that costs around Β£3 rather than Β£15 or whatever I have grind 7"s in my collection with like 8 label logos on the back, they all chipped in some small sum to cover the pressing costs and got a percentage of the copies to sell/trade themselves Come to think of it, another weird tactic some labels have/had is to just send j-cards, and the label/distro can make their own copies. Or even the fans for that matter; back in the day I traded a load of BM/noise 'tapes' and received tape inlays with CDRs to dub my own copy from

Thanks for your insights - got a few things to think about Having now researched international shipping further and potentially using a 'pick and pack' fulfillment services, I'm just really hoping that COVID doesn't derail shipping opportunities too badly. Only time will tell.
