Hello,
I am looking into building a beginner setup for learning, playing, and eventually recording dungeon synth. I will likely be using a laptop paired with FL studio and a 25 key midi controller to start, and need to keep the setup mobile as I travel for work and do not currently have a permanent residence. My current laptop is running on 8GB ram with AMD Ryzen 5 2500u, 2.00 GHz, and 256g SSD storage. I am under the impression that this will meet the basic requirements to run the program, but am wondering how it will work performance wise.
What works well with FL studio or similar DAWs, and what other features would you recommend keeping an eye out for?
I am in a location where I do not have access to the bandwidth required to download any DAW software, so I am brainstorming ideas for music, artwork, and how I will eventually play/record it when do I have access to more resources.
Thank you all in advance for your input. I am open to any and all suggestions you have for someone just starting out.

Can't speak too exact on actual specs etc, but having enough RAM is one of the most important things, next to a decent CPU. If you can, 16gb would be beneficial. My laptop has an extra Ram slot and my brother gave me an extra stick to go from 8 to 16gb and it makes a big difference.

I think your current computer will be fine to start out on. Having 37 keys would probably make you more able to play the keyboard as an instrument.

As a first post on this forum, this has been kind of a cart-before-the horse question, so I greatly appreciate the feedback from both of you so far.
One of the big things I have been thinking about is getting a second laptop.... to have one for casual stuff, and one for artwork and music. If one goes down for some reason, the other one will be there as kind of a backup.
I have been following things for a few weeks, as many people new to this forum do, and have gleaned a wealth of knowledge and information so far. I will look into the 37 key option as I start putting things together, especially if I can find things for second hand or cheap to start. There are a few musical resources where I currently work, and I look forward to gaining some insight into those from the community members here.

Having on the same desk/room/table/whatever, not only 1 working station but at least 2 is one of the biggest quality of life improvements anyone who can afford must do, it's a huge upgrade no matter if you are a musician, a gamer, a crypto miner, a bussinessman or a cemetery records keeper honestly.. Some people sometimes have one pc and two monitors but it's very very different and more helpful to have two different pcs/laptop/whatever you work with so if one of them goes out, needs troubleshooting, you can safely work the other at your own pace.. But the HUGE upgrade is the everyday life of having two systems side by side.. Sorry for the offtopic but wanted to upvote it for all it counts! Also, +++ to have if you can afford 16 giga ram instead of 8 which already feel the minimum..
