Hi I’m new to this forum but I noticed this hasn’t been brought up yet, and it may be of interest to some of you - especially because there have been recent efforts in the dungeon beat side of things. Many of Keef’s production decisions eerily come close to a dungeon synth sound no matter if he’s producing himself or is working with someone else, this is especially apparent in his early projects but still continues to recent times. The Back From the Dead series of mixtapes is the standout example of this but I’ll list some of my favorite songs. Whole Crowd Worries 5am CuzI can’t tell if there’s any actual influence from dungeon synth or if this was a case of convergent evolution but either answer is still interesting. What are your thoughts?

I have nowhere near the musical background to speculate on this, but these beats do go hard as fuck. Maybe pulling from some of the same old patches as some DS folks. Like the intro to 5AM there almost definitely uses the same human-voice patch from the end of this Apoxupon song. (Time code 25:26)
In any case, I appreciate the reach of this comparison.

That's a great catch! my hypothesis right now is that there's a common influence in video game soundtracks that they both partially derive from
