What are your favorite Dungeon Synth covers? Post them here! Of course, covers are a nice part of any music scene, as a way of showing support or paying homage to an artist you respect or who inspired you. I know of several covers of Burzum's Han Som Reiste, ones by Nargaash and Barak Tor (Exclusive to "The Black Citadel of Bellthor" CD) And then there are Erang's covers of Mortiis' "Fanget I Krystal" and Isengard's "In The Halls and Chambers of Stardust"And finally I remember the cover contest Grimrik did of one of the tracks from Eisreich. Not sure if those tracks are still up but I remember that Iami won the contest.

I actually just finished writing up the sheet music for a DS cover I arranged of Death's "Voice of the Soul." I'll post it here when I record it. I normally never like to do covers; I don't have anything against them, but I usually just feel like my creative energies are best spent on original work. However, Chuck Schuldiner has always been an inspiration and influence to me, and I wanted to honor his memory and his contributions to music.
I wonder if any artists in this forum have worked on, or have been working on, any covers, aside from Erang, of course, whose covers have been listed already?

I've done a few acoustic covers of DS songs - one by Witch King of Angmar, one by Erang, and one by Apothecarium. But I didn't want to lead off every topic I make with a link to my own stuff... I'd be excited to hear your Death cover. Such a great band.

Agreed; one of my very favorites. The cover should be finished sometime this month. I'll be sure to post it!
Also, I'm loving this Witch King of Angmar cover! It sounds great on solo accordion! I'll definitely be listening to the others you listed when I finish this one. I'd honestly love to see an album or EP made up of acoustic DS covers. I think that'd be really interesting.

This is self promotion, but I'm posting it because it's the only Forgotten Pathways cover I know of. I kept the song as close to the original as possible, saving the most important melodies, but also added some of my own melodies and ideas in here as well. I think the best covers pay respect to the original song but also add some unique elements as well. From Oldenhelm - Ruins and Reverence EP.

I think there's no harm in self-promotion if it's engaging and contributing to the community! This has made me want to listen to more of your music, for sure!

Thanks! This song is one of my favorites from the 90's. When I interviewed him for the Barbarian Skull zine, he revealed that he recorded the entire song using the 'record' feature built in to his keyboard. So he basically had to perform each track live and get it right, or start all over. This song was not easy to play even with all of the convenience of modern recording, so it definitely made me respect the Forgotten Pathways material even more.

I completed a cover today of Voormithadreth's Ornava, the first track from Zothique. The video is of course limited by built-in IMovie effects and the quality of my camera, but I'm pretty happy with the mix.

Some really good stuff on this thread. Chaucerian Myth covering "Voice of the Soul" will undoubtedly be amazing.
I've been working on an arrangement of Isengard's "In The Halls And Chambers Of Stardust The Crystallic Heavens Open" for concert percussion (primarily celeste, timpani, and bowed vibraphone). Hopefully I can convince some of the other percussionists at my university to play it with me for one of our concerts, and I'll do a recording at some point.
I used to enjoy playing Burzum's "Moti Ragnarokum" on guitar and might try a cover of that, too.

I'm particularly interested in the bowed vibraphone!

Cover tracks are traditionally a highly divisive topic, a lot of people wave them off as "waste of time" and claim that it'd be better to hear something original instead. I disagree, I'm one of those people who love to hear different versions and takes of their favourite songs and sometimes a cover song of something I enjoy has lead me to get into artist's original works too so would not say it is a waste.
Of course a bad cover version is practically an insult but if it is bad enough it may turn hilarious.
Anyways, can't say I'd encountered many dungeon synth covers so this is a helpful topic as well as leading apparently to many YT links. Of the ones here which I sampled I especially enjoyed Erang's Isengard cover and Chaucerian Myth's Death cover (never been a really big fan of Death post-first two albums so I don't remember the original at all). Must admit this is also first time I heard CM'm music and apparently I need to listen to more of it.
