As I'm sure most in here know, Mortiis released his demo of The Song of a Long Forgotten Ghost sometime in 1993, arguably starting the wonderful dungeon synth genre. Although very underground for years, FINALLY it is getting more well-known and there are plenty of sub-genres and excellent musicians contributing to this ever-expanding world.
Hard to believe?

Indeed @daytol great point!! And while all of us are always digging and discussing where the roots are, influences, essential proto stuff etc, I think both first era of Mortiis and the "Dark Dungeon Music" tag he used are probably the best point to choose if we had to select that certain point in time!!
Personally I don't have enough great words to say to everyone involved and especially artists, for creating the genre of my dreams, putting in that magic cauldron all those different ingredients and creating the wide spectrum of sounds of "Dungeon Synth" that is today..
One last note, I just hope and wish every soul that would appreciate Dungeon Synth to eventually find the gateway into it, it's sad that many would love it but most might never find their way in ..
