Hello! I've been absolutely entranced by dungeon synth for the past year, so I've decided that I must participate. Not only this is my first solo project, it's my first time not making rock/metal. Making this album have really made me appreciate dungeon synth even more, so I'm eager to continue. But for now, I present to you the first chapter of the history and geography of Istarion, the world I develop for my DnD sessions. I would be glad to get any feedback! istarion.bandcamp.com/album/iIt's on all major streaming services as well.

This feels very classic dungeon synth. Grand, regal, epic, dignified, magic, and majestic. But especially with that cover art it feels like finding some mysterious vinyl of decades past, of some isolated synth musician creating vast worlds of imagination to wander through and absorb spirit of. This is nearly a perfect example of what I think "traditional dungeon synth" should be. Reminds me of Skarpseian. It deserves a long detailed review, as do so many dungeon synth albums. I feel bad that the best I can do is one quick paragraph after a couple listens. It feels like there is a whole visual landscape in every track here, cluttered with cosmic meaning. We are living in a world of an overwhelming abudance of artistic beauty, if we can just narrow our focus to fully appreciate it when it crosses our path. A very magical album, with a perfect palette-cleansing closer. I want to throw on Istarion - II immediately after, but it does not exist yet...

Thank you so much for this review! I was quite impressed by Skarpseian live, so the comparison makes me glad. Happy that this reads as a fantasy archive of sorts because I've actually made tiny lore bits for the tape release this november. I hope to continue expanding the lore with music, so let's explore Istarion together! 🧙♂️
