Recently finished the first Final Fantasy. I really enjoyed it, I just wish I didn't do the additional content the re-releases added until a later play through because it made the ending too easy. Not sure what to hop onto yet. I might do another JRPG, especially because I'm really fond of the music they tend to have. I've always wanted to go one-by-one through the series but it's quite the feat and I have no time for anything anyway. Maybe one day. I actually just sold my NES and games a couple months ago. Makes me want to read old 8-bit theater comics.

I always thought Underrail looked cool but I didn't really get into it. How is it so far? It's a great RPG, with a huuuuuge map (did I already said that ?). The atmosphere is awesome. The RPG codex loves it. No need to say more

It would definitely take a lot of time to go through each of them one by one, especially considering the weird quirks of II and III. The PS4 release of VII allows you to play at 3x speed which helps cut down time when grinding and such. I would like to see all of the games ported to modern platforms with this feature, that way everyone can experience all of them.

I've finally taken the plunge into the world of Steam on Linux.
I played Cayne yesterday. A point-and-click sci-fi and horror adventure game. Apparently it's related to a game called Stasis, but that's alien to me. I enjoyed the game. It was somewhat difficult, but thankfully I didn't need assistance or a strategy guide (do these still exist?).
I've installed a few more games. Most of them are free, such as DOTA 2 and CS:GO. However, I've just purchased Left 4 Dead 2, Half-Life, and Blood Feed, all of which are first-person shooters. The only one I've played was Left For Dead 2, and that was nearly 10 years ago. It'll be fun to experience it again, and although late, it will be cool to play Half-Life for the first time. I'll finally get to see what the hype was all about.

I'm finishing Bioshock 1 (I had never played before) and it's a f*cking masterpiece. I've never been a FPS fan but I love Rapture.
I also started Kenshi, which is totally boring AND totally addictive.

Tried earlier today Stephanef you game on itch.io ! Thumbs up for being a text adventure type, respect!! Now I think a walkthrough would help , I Thumbs up for transmitting the proper underlying horror atmosphere, with something lurking and all the references to how old everything is.. I get a clue/hint on what is going on by that! Again, the atmosphere is greatly enhanced by not long but nice and fitting descriptions!! Nice one man!

Thanks for playing my game ... have you tried EXIT, or GO OUT, or LEAVE THE ROOM ? That's the way you move from one room to another. And after that you can type GO TO THE BEDROOM (or even only BEDROOM) to go back from where you came.
I tried to implement commands that are as natural-sounding as possible.
Beside that there is no puzzle only free exploration and progressive discovery of what's going on

Currently playing through Red Dead Redemption 2. Sometimes I'll go horseback riding just to see the amazing scenery.
Also doing playthroughs of Elder Scrolls Oblivion & Skyrim. Playing the same build on both, Wood Elf Archer / Thief. After years of going full Barbarian with most RPG's, I felt it was time for a change.

Currently playing through Red Dead Redemption 2.
How's the game, generally speaking ? Are the quests interesting ? Are the NPC " believable ", with rich interactions ? Are there sufficient things to do when you just want to wander and live everyday life ?

It's a fun AAA game. Immersive, captivating, addictive, but ultimately very shallow. The missions are basically hand-held riding/walking/whatever from spot A to spot B, with a bit of very scripted action in between, usually a little more scripted action at spot B and that's it. There's no deep interaction with NPC's. But there is a ton of stuff to do, a huge and beautiful world to explore, lots of small surprises and details all around, and lots of random encounters, side missions and extracurricular things to do. It's not a deep RPG and doesn't pretend to be one, it's an action game with a "living" world built around the action.

I've haven't played either game, but to me it seems like GTA in a western setting with a bit more structure and story, less chaos I guess. Is that about right? I like the idea of an immersive western game but I think that might require more RPG elements. I don't know.

I feel like the story is a lot better written in RDR than GTA (though I did like GTAV's story quite a bit) and there is a bit more to do in the open world portions, or at least more side content to explore.
RDR2 has a lot of potential to be an immersive western game, especially with the added first person camera, but there is also a lot holding it back from that.
