Curious to know what you consider to be the best releases this year, I'm only a passerby in the genre currently, but I'm starting to work my way into it. Would love to see what the best the scene has to offer for this year.

This year is a tough one for a top ten list. Way more releases than last year. I'll be posting my top ten to dungeon-synth.tumblr.com

personally i loved Voormithadreth - Sign of Mung. So nice to see somebody composing works inspired by Lord Dunsany rather than the old chestnuts Tolkien & Lovecraft

Awesome list, gonna check these out. Haven't seen anybody mention Eltamin Pegase - he's a more general dark electronic artist but his recent album Za Stary Krolestwa is very much in the realm of dungeon synth.

In no particular order:
Elves and Dwarves - Eidetic Dreams of Sentient Trees Fief - I Fief - II Wolcensmen - Songs from the Fyrgen Chaucerian Myth - Chaucerian Myth Moaning Shadows - Spirits of the Past Splendorius - Moernvar
I can't rate these in order of favorites because they each pique a different taste for me.

We saw a lot of variety this year, which was kool. Quite a bit of high quality synth stuff and quite a bit of lo-fi dusty tapes. I'm more partial to the dusty stuff, typically. Primeval Spell's Litany of Eclipsed Conjurations, though short, is definitely going to near the top of my list. This is the only preview of it online; I kind of like the lack of music online, it makes the tape more special to listen to. She still has tapes available, though I think she may be out of the thorn and wax editions.

personally i loved Voormithadreth - Sign of Mung. So nice to see somebody composing works inspired by Lord Dunsany rather than the old chestnuts Tolkien & Lovecraft Some days, it's Sign of Mung, other days it's definitely Zothique. Very entrancing music. Some other favorites include: Elves and Dwarves - Eidetic Dreams of Sentient Trees Fief - I (I'm sure II will become a favorite but I haven't had the chance to listen more than once so far...) Cromleck - Sidh Verminaard - Wardens of a Light-Starved Realm Erang - Our Dreams are Made of Dragons Apothecarium - Demo II Mystic Towers - Caverns of Crystal Unguth Vaetron and Chronicles of Jest both had promising starts this year, imo.
