Who builds worlds. Maybe more specially which DS creators have created their own world / mythology / universe for their records. It is no secret that fantasy literature encourages creative geography, I am just curious if there are other creators with worlds that we do not know about it, possibly with maps. I am aware of Erang's Land of the Five seasons and actually just last night, the land that is being created by Canrith Knox at Hollow Myths. I have always found imaginary lands interesting and the need to look at maps and think of interacting with these worlds. I jokingly came up with an idea of making a light system that would allow people to use these worlds as settings for RPG games which would perhaps be the pinnacle of my nerdy exploits. Can we catalog an Atlas Obscura for all of the imaginary lands tied to Dungeon Synth?

I love to see more of those lands and perhaps some lore, background stories tied to them. Somehow I can imagine pretty well some stories by the music. Love the RPG idea btw, joke or not haha.

Can't forget Mortiis' Secrets of my Kingdom. Does this come with maps? Do all of his or any of them take place within this world?

It's a bunch of stories and poems and stuff about his world. It might come with maps; I want to say it does but I don't know, I thought I read that somewhere. Goes for $200 now, if anyone wants to pick it up. Really wish there were scans of this somewhere. andrewwerdna do you actually have this?

I am going to add in the The Lays of Assiriand created by Fegefeuer Anilmathiel who is a Current spanish artist who doesn't really participate in the FB thread but did 5 albums based around his world. There are less maps and more just broadstrokes and abstract cosmos. fegefeueranilmathiel.bandcamp.com/

It's incredible, definitely a form of world-building, but a bit more abstract than like D&D/Tolkien world-building. I don't think there's any maps but I'm not certain about that. I'll double-check when I get home later. I'm surprised it's still going for around $200, that's about what I paid for it around 2007, if I remember correctly.

Oldenhelm has written concepts and poetry describing the ancient kingdom of Oldenhelm. The first full written concept can be found with the Ruins and Reverence EP. Two of the songs on Ruins and Reverence also include poems.
When I first started the project in 2014, I composed this poem to set the standard for what the music should feel like:
Through towers tall and dungeons dark Across lonely lands forgotten Beneath caverns cursed where lurking lairs Hide baneful beasts begotten By summoned spells passed guarded gates And trails of sullen stone Over perilous paths which forge the fate Of the doom of soul and bone Through dungeons dark and towers tall Rests an old and ancient realm Where radiantly risen in hallowed halls Lies the throne of Oldenhelm

these are two maps I did when I first learned mapmaking in photoshop. They are from a tutorial so they look similar. I have a tendency to overuse "The ____________" In naming. At this moment I have a book of maps around a world I use sometimes in RPGs and other just for creative exercise. It spans ages and has dozens of continents.

I'm working on a comic right now called The Wyrd Well which is heavily influenced by ds and is all about the world building.

I'm currently working on a massive worldbuilding project that will take place over multiple volumes and extend to media beyond just music. That is all I will say of it for now, but it will be huge.
