Such a limited palette meant he exhausted this sound pretty quickly, but damn was it a fine sound. There basically wasn't anywhere else to go with it though. I think Engravings was the apex of the Forest Swords output.

I know what you mean. It's the great irony of being experimental. You think you have unlimited range at first, but you quickly get settled in a box.

I know what you mean. It's the great irony of being experimental. You think you have unlimited range at first, but you quickly get settled in a box.

There is also something to be said for FS having fully realized his concept basically with the first release. From there he was only able to refine it a bit over one or two full lengths and then that was it. It's a shame that it limits the output, but it's definitely a compliment to him that he executed what he was going for so well right off the bat.
