I was searching the forum either for a Photography thread or a Castles dedicated one etc, but I didn;'t find any..
So,let this thread be a gathering for all real Castles related things like photos,info,etc... Not that I couldn't do with drawings but I think drawings can be fit in many of the other art threads we have.. Reason for the thread is to give some real life inspiration from ... Castles ofc .. Reason for creating it was a Cnn, article which had 10 pretty amazing photos of real castles :
The article is mostly a promo I think of a book by a photographer who photod like 200+ castles, but it won't matter, the photos are just great and worth it and people may also post in the future more articles/resources and stuff, which I find very inspiring (for ds inspired artists and authors both)..
By the way, another good resource if any of you happen to visit Greece would be www.kastra.eu/ about remains of kinda intact of castles here.. I'd appreciate if there are similar sites for other countries tbh...
Feel free to add to this thread and comment and stuff, regards!
Cool thread, castles are sick. Here’s one about half an hour from me, built in the 1920s but still has some esoteric lore. Castle Gimghoul:
“One legend has it that the body of an 18 year old man named Peter Dromgoole was buried in a shallow grave in 1833. Peter was madly in love with a young woman from Chapel Hill known simply as Miss Fanny. But he was not the only one enticed by the charms of this young lady; she had caught the eye of another. It is said that the two suitors decided to settle the matter with a pistol duel, and as the story goes, the duel did not go well for Peter Dromgoole. He was killed upon the very rock that today is allegedly still stained with his blood, and it is said that his companions left him here, dragging the rock on top of him in an attempt to cover up the occurrence.
According to a different tale, Fanny, the object of Peter's affections, was said to have returned to the castle daily following his disappearance, not knowing that her love had been murdered, and prayed for his return until she ultimately passed away from the sorrow and loneliness”
