My project is Valscharuhn. I've been tinkering with dungeon synth for about a decade now, but don't have a lot to show for it. There's a lot of youthful ignorance and unfinished ideas, probably too much, and just a lot of laziness. But I think there's a few cool ideas garbled in the mess. Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is probably my best album. I'm trying to work on new stuff now.

I've listened to "Glimpses through the Mist" just few days ago and the sound you used are awesome. I really enjoyed the atmosphere you managed to set up!

I know you talked about Journeys adrift on the fb group before, but I still think that's a stellar album with great mood. Glad to hear you've got more coming.

So as to not clutter-up the "One-Day Song" thread, I'm going to start posting these here.
I think this one came out really well:

Great track. As I commented in your blog some years ago, Valscharuhn is a real exponent of the genre.

This track just made my day man, great work. The title is a really nice fit too.

Thanks guys. I'm happy with how productive I've been the past few days, so I think I'm going to keep it up at this pace for as long as I can sustain the momentum. So expect more like this!

I didn't know of your project for a while. I heard some pieces in the one day writing thread. I like how dark and gloomy this song sounds, great work!

Thanks, but if you thought that was dark and gloomy get ready. I'm not so sure about this one. I decided I wanted to contrast totally raw isolated samples with busy mangled patches, playing the same riff, with very abrupt transitions for the sake of clear textural comparison, so this is the result.

Andrew, you are on FIRE man. This track is dynamite, it almost sounds like it was recorded using an AKAI sampler feeding into a 4-track. Dusty and dingy as can be. Bravo man, please keep the chart-toppers coming. You're going to be Coldplay rich any day now

Thanks man. I went on a synth buying-spree about a year or so ago, and oddly enough an old Akai sampler was the next thing on my list, but I ran out of money haha. But this is just pure raw JD-990, no other instruments or effects.

Nice series of tracks you've been putting out here. All of the Valscharuhn releases I've heard definitely have a distinctive style to my ears, and it's nice to see this is the case even in demos. Reminds me of the Hexen or Heretic soundtracks.

Playing with the panning a lot here. I'm not totally happy with this one, but I'm tired so I'm going to call it finished for now.

No new track tonight, but I figured out why I've been recording in mono this whole time, it was totally obvious, right in front of me. :/

Frumious Mome Rath is my absolute favorite so far, but I've only scratched the discography. This i great stuff. Especially the fact that it sounds like you're actually playing your instruments, rather than pure sequencing/MIDI programming. I think that does a whole lot to add character and quality to a recording.
