My first Dungeon Synth Project (I’m come for advices 🙏)

Here I shyly offer you my first dungeon synth demo.
And I’m not just doing this for self-promotion. I do this above all and above all to get as much criticism and advice from you as possible. 🙏

On my web pages, whether it’s YouTube Bandcamp etc… everything will evolve. I created this quickly.

But I would like to have your opinions on the music because absolutely everything is done with pure naivety! No musical training, technical knowledge of sound and I would sincerely like to develop this project to release more and more qualitative albums.

I just finished listening and thought it was good. I'm not really one to give criticism because if anything I would be telling most artists to try doing things the "wrong" way, to just be different from everyone else making this kind of music, that's what is most important to me. So naivety and "mistakes" are great in my book, something to try and keep and even cultivate, because then the work is just like naturally unique. Demos are great for that, and this has that special charm at times, and I think successfully conjures that old dungeon spirit when it does sound familiar.

The album cover doesn't really match the music, like I would expect some filthy lofi thrashy stuff from that, and that challenging of expectations is good I think, this isn't really like any other DS album cover so that gets my attention and makes me wonder what DS with this album cover could possibly sound like. Makes me think of the cover of Thy Castle - Stormshadows In Thy Castle Of Solitude, an album I've always thought was pretty mediocre but has just stuck in my mind all these years because that album cover really caught me off guard when I first encountered it.

But anyways, good stuff, no obvious "flaws" to my ears. My only advice would be to continue with whatever you enjoy making, whether that be the traditional sound or something off-the-beaten-path.

With the cover I wanted to create a contrast, because that’s what I’m trying to do with this project. For example, very epic and warlike sounds, but which plays very soft and melancholic melodies with the aim of evoking a forgotten past.

Hence the name catacombs and a dark image of catacombs.

But if I'm honest, I have zero skills in graphic design 😂 so I drew the logo + made this cover as best I could, and it turned out really very very thrashy! More than I wanted to be honest!

For the next album the cover will probably be one of my paintings and I'm thinking of paying a graphic designer for my logo
