![Dungeon Synth Quests](https://paths.to/uploads/block_images/79a002ff9444c008f207d05e10f91bf0.jpg) Dungeon Synth has a rich history that deserves to be studied and appreciated. We want to expand the view of this history beyond the 1990s with its handful of rightly revered but repeatedly referenced protagonists. Two new volumes of our »Dungeon Synth Quests« series focus on early synthesizer musicians and and forerunners of today's Dungeon Synth. We invite you to explore the connections between New Age/Kosmische Musik and early Dungeon Synth, revealing not only musical but also spiritual connections. About the »Dungeon Synth Quests« seriesAs you know we have been thinking a lot about the nostalgic idea of recording physical mixtapes lately, just like we did in the 90s. Due to time constraints and legal complexities, the decision was made to curate some playlists under the banner of »Dungeon Synth Quests« on Spotify, offering a less nostalgic but legally easier and less time-consuming alternative. Each playlist has a slightly different focus: Thanks for your attention and may the Twelve bless you!

I like the concept! I have mostly found lists with full albums bundled together on my sporadic search for dungeon synth playlists. A selection of tracks with some thought behind is more like it.

I like the concept! I have mostly found lists with full albums bundled together on my sporadic search for dungeon synth playlists. A selection of tracks with some thought behind is more like it. Thanks for the feedback, we appreciate it! ⚔️ The idea was actually an analogy to the cherished mixtape of old days: back then we didn't just copy albums, we thought about stuff like: which tracks go well together? In which order? What story is the mix supposed to tell? etc. - Of course, with the sheer amount of music out there (and good music, too!), it's easier to just put entire albums on playlists. But we wanted to preserve some of that old spirit. So the selection of tracks is obviously highly subjective, but that's what DSQs is all about. And, like I said, we're always open to additions!

I would like to humbly submit my project Old Moth Dreams.
Greetings Sire! I've listened to the tracks that are available on Spotify and some of them really fit the vibe! Unfortunately, all of those are between 15 and 25 minutes long, which is a bit too long for our playlists (no front!). But we'll keep an eye on it. Kind regards!

Five minutes into a piece and I'm just finishing with the intro... But thanks for your time and consideration. I am working on shorter pieces for the Dungeon Shamble on Reddit that might be appropriate that will be ready by the end of the month.

Please don't get me wrong, Sire: there's absolutely nothing wrong with long tracks, on the contrary (I love it when albums take their time to evolve and create atmosphere). But for these very playlists, which claim to be a digital version of mixtapes, long tracks are not very suitable. So if you should compose some 5 or 6 minute tracks in the near future, please let us know!

Oh no worries, merely mildly lamenting my habits. Part of why I joined in doing the shamble was to be forced to limit myself to what feels like inconceivably short track lengths.

Thanks for your attention and may the Twelve bless you! I really like the playlists! I do have to say that Tony O'Connor's Rainforest Magic was super influential on me as a producer, but I don't know how far reaching that influence is, or if it's old enough to be considered the roots of dungeon synth, it certainly has vibes of forest or nature synth and it was released back in 1991.

If I may also humbly submit my music: Wizards of Aldur ( It is a middlingly to minorly popular fantasy synth project that I, as the creator, am somewhat fond of.

Greetings Sire! Thanks for pointing out Tony O'Connor! I've been looking through his discography a bit and think that his relaxation music can definitely be counted among the roots of the genre. For the playlist, however, I went back two years further, to »Because We Fly« from 1989. And of course, »Wizards of Aldur« definitely belongs in the first three playlists! As I wrote above: the lists are a work in progress, so not all artists that should be on them are represented yet. Including you is of course an honor for us! All the more reason for me to thank you for the tip, which doesn't have to be humble but rather proud! I have now added these tracks: - Vol.1: Ambush on the Algarian Plain
- Vol.2: To Death or Glory
- Vol.3: Wizard Duel in Dread City
If you have any other wishes, please let me know!

It's not particularly pretty, yet it shall fulfill its purpose: all erstwhile playlists are now also available on our humble link tree alternative: paths.to/dungeonsynthquests — feel free pay us a musical visit, or tell thy band of adventurers about it! And be not timid: if you think your music belongs on one of the playlists, please dispatch unto us a carrier pigeon or a messenger on horseback and let us know!
