I've taken up the call and am forging a blade! It's interesting seeing the midi of someone else's creative process, you seem to be more melody-focused than I am, I go for rhythm and texture before I think about melody. I'm doing a more doom/drone take as is my wont. Thanks for presenting this intriguing exercise!

With this very track, I agree 100%, our focus was clearly on the melody: we wanted an epic-legendary anthem that could have come from the soundtrack of a Sword and Sorcery movie from the 1980s – that is the core of the »Blade of Destiny«.

We also liked the idea of sharing the song, because shared ideas are often the best ideas. Like this quote that is always attributed to George Bernard Shaw (wrongly, but that's not the point): The whole story becomes deeper when you share it and let others contribute to it. Basically, it's like when we used to play role-playing games as kids – we shared a story and told it together. This story was denser and richer than any story you could have made up on your own. We still love this spirit. Thanks to all of you out there who have already added your layer of thought to our Naugadir lore! If you have created a version of the »Klinge«, feel free to release it whenever you need a track or a B-side or whatever! It's 100% yours now, so you can decide. Maybe we could release a sampler with all version in autumn or winter, if everyone's up for it. But that's just an idea we had today. If the tracks are available on Spotify and you agree, we can also add them to our » Gilgareths Nordlandtrilogie« (Gilgareth's Nordland Trilogy) playlist, which is a collection of all the releases related to the Blade of Destiny, the Endurium Shield, and the fight against Naugadir.

For now, we would appreciate it if you would share your results with us, for example here. Let's get started: Sylfvr – Naugadir ( Bandcamp| Spotify) A very organic New Age vibe contrasted by a dark ambience and quasi-militaristic drumming. Sylfvr's Vertonung der Charaktere gives the track a whole new dimension of atmosphere. Sylfvr even created his artwork as a nod to our style of covers.[/br]

Regicide – Klinge des Schicksals (Remix) ( Bandcamp) A beautiful, deeply atmospheric interpretation that magically teleports you into the depths of a mighty primeval forest. It's the perfect track for a peaceful summer Sunday evening.

Timeless Rain – Klinge des Schicksals (Rework) ( Bandcamp) The famed bard of Timeless Rain, whose renown echoes far and wide across Aventuria, has conjured for us a most wondrous and trippy elixir. It's medieval Eurodance straight from the 90s (the 1190s!) and this tune is already causing a sensation on the dance floors of the taverns of the Middenrealm. Timeless Rain's new album, which includes »Klinge des Schicksals«, is surely worthy of your attention!

Old Moth Dreams - Klinge Des Schicksals Variations (Rework) Bandcamp
I took this in a dungeon doom/dungeon noise/funeral doom direction. it's a testament to the melodic strength of the original piece that it stood up very well to being significantly slowed down; it just became a bit more melancholy.
