A question for those of you who put out dungeon synth releases: Where do you get your artwork? Are there any particular artists you can recommend? The reason I ask is because I'm looking for new artists to do interior black and white illustrations for the next volume of Swords of Steel.

Hi, I'm an illustrator and I've been into RPGs and synth music since always. Perhaps I can help? Let me know what you need.

I just put out a call on social media to my artist friends to see who would be interested in working with dungeon synth artists. I'm waiting for more to get back to me but there have been a few already. Like Dan above! Another artist who has expressed interest is Matt Davis xenonsisyphus.tumblr.com/

I really wondered how come perople use old drawings as their release artwork. Isn't it has some copyright rules?

So there so copyright laws that apply. I do not think it matters when it comes to online released on bandcamp. I know there is copyright laws but its to small scale to care. I think that there is orherwise when it comes to physical releases. I am glad that I have befriended Orchard so that I can use original artwork for Digre. The alliance between the illustraition and dungeon synth community is a great opportunity for us all. And there is the safe method used by mortiis on the first crypt of the wizard release: use the well known artwork by well known scandinavian artists and write "artwork by unknown" as a disclaimer.

I'm trying hard to recruit artists! A number are really interested!

The alliance between the illustraition and dungeon synth community is a great opportunity for us all. I'm trying hard to recruit artists! A number are really interested! Any advice on how to cut artists in? The dungeon isn't really an income-generating place, but it feels wrong not to compensate original illustration. Should we kick back some of the tape/dl money, even if it's only like $10 total? I was thinking it also might be cool to sell prints of the artwork on bandcamp next to the album. Would people buy? Would artists be into that? I'm thinking about working together with someone and I feel pretty un-educated here.

No it is made by John Bauer who is known by every Scandinavian school kid as he has illustrated some if the stories from collection "bland tomtar och troll". Read by everybody from around here. Einar Norelius have made nice stuff but is not as known as Bauer.

I've certainly seen those trolls a million times even though I've never read the tales.

I was an illustrator for this Christmas magazine/book that came out every year in support of children of poor families i think. There where many artist for these books but most well known is Bauer. It is not a requirement to know that this for foreigners outside Scandinavia but someone in Mortiis company should have been able to notice that it was not directly artist unknown. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Among_Gnomes_and_Trolls

Bauer is one of my favourite artists. I'm surprised I haven't seen more Theodore Kittlesen, another amazing troll artist
